I want to get a gift certificate for a friend - is the spa in Destination Maternity on 57th St. any good? Any other recs for pregnancy safe facials? Thanks!

I had a few done. Some at Bliss, some at the Spa at my gym (Equinox on the UES.) Most facials are ok for pregnancy as long as the aesthtician (totally butchered that spelling) knows she is pregnant so no salicylic acid, etc are used. I dont know about the DM spa, sorry.

I went to Destination Maternity's spa for a massage... Not very good. Nice setting, but the masseuse was way too gentle even though I told her to use more pressure! I don't know about their facials though! What a nice friend you are!

@NYCaliMama: good to know! Ok, maybe I won't get it from there. I got two massages at Exhale on Central Park South and they were really good! Maybe I will just get her that or check if they have facials for preggos.

I don't know if they offer prenatal facials specifically, but I really thought they did a great job at Jillian Wright Clinical Skin Spa. I told her I was preggo beforehand and she recommended that I didn't get a lactic acid facial. The one that I did get was great though, and she recommended a scrub that makes my skin feel like a baby's. Even my husband is addicted to it!
