I am with Downtown Women in Soho. I really like the group for the most part (save for one doctor), but they deliver at NYU, so probably not ideal for you.

I've seen Dr. Kelly Greening since moving to the UWS a few years back. When I visit her, it's like chatting with an old friend. She has a lovely bedside manner compared to most docs (I'm a nurse so I'm picky with my health care providers!). I know one other person who goes to her and loves her as well. The only thing is though, that she doesn't deliver babies anymore. She stopped being on-call to spend more time with her kids at home. I knew this when I got pregnant, but decided to still stick with seeing her throughout my pregnancy. At around 32 weeks, I visited with the other docs in the practice (including docs at two other offices on the UES). It was a bit tricky meeting all the other docs (some were on vacation, some had fully booked schedules, etc...), but being that this was #2 for me and since I'm a nurse myself, I was really lax about everything. I don't know if I'd recommend the same situation for a first-time mom, honestly. But I do have to say that I really trust Cornell doctors in regards to their competency and care.

I delivered at Weill Cornell and do feel it is one of the better hospitals in NYC to deliver at. (I delivered at NYU for my first baby.)

dr robin kalish at weill cornell, but she only accepts high risk patients. when i had charlie i had a bad experience only because there were so many births that night, i couldn't get a room for hours while i was in full on labor. my experience with olive was great though.

other doctors in the practice might accept patients though... there are about5 or 6 other doctors. you see your doctor for appts, but whoever is on call when you go into labor will deliver your baby. my ob didn't deliver either charlie or olive.

@hilsy85: Nice! We're moving to Brooklyn at the end of the month, too, so I figure I'll still be relatively close. It seems a decent number of Brooklyn women go there, so it must work out okay.

Weill Cornell is the very best! I am friends with the director there, Dr. Chervenak and he personally recommended Dr. Dobrenis. I love her - so wonderful!

I'm also with Downtown Women and I really like them. And yes, affiliated with NYU. I just toured the hospital and both my husband & I feel pretty good about our decision to have our baby there.

@hilsy85: with charlie we roomed in because we had a big private room with an extra bed for mr. bee. with olive, i had a shared room, but most of the time the other bed was empty. since i was by myself, i sent her to the nursery for a little while because i couldn't sleep a wink when i was with her.

i didn't feel rushed, but it is a ton of people coming in and out to see you all day... doctors, nurses, interns, etc. etc. it's hard to get any rest.

some of the nurses are nice, some not so nice. overall i had a good experience though.
