I just don't understand this kind of stuff.... just break up with her? ya know?

@.twist.: he thought it was someone breaking into her house. Unless that's a joke and I'm too tired to catch it.
But, man, what an awful thing to happen.

This is why DH and I have a "I'll never kill you, no matter what" pact. We don't know all the details yet, but shot 4 times?!?! I feel so sad for her and her family, she was excited about Valentine's day. One of the articles I read said that there have previously been incidents at his home, what does that mean? I'm really hoping it was some sort of tragic mistake but I doubt it.

Just goes to show that sports "heroes" shouldn't be considered role models. And that overcoming adversity doesn't necessarily mean you have good character.

@Mrs. Jacks: Totally agree.
@sera_87: But 4 times? you'd think after the first shot you'd be like "oops, that's not a bad guy".

After lance I'm done with sports figures being heroes. That guy really ruined it!

There's a lot of facts that have yet to come out... I am reserving judgment for now. In the meantime, my heart goes out to Reeva Steenkamp's family and friends.

Also goes to show anyone is capable of anything -good or bad, so scary.
What he accomplished and overcame as a runner is one thing, crazy how even easier it was to become a (suspected) murderer. Sad, heart goes to her family.

I work in the news and we had a ton of stories about this guy during the Olympics this summer. I was SHOCKED to see this news overnight. People who know him are saying it was an accident, that he thought she was a burglar when she was trying to surprise him for Valentine's Day. The police in South Africa said in a press conference that any suggestions of a Valentine's Day gone wrong did not come from them, and there had been previous domestic incidents at the house. I don't know how this will turn out but it really shows you can never know what goes on behind closed doors.
