I'm an introvert at heart, although I'm able to fake it and my friends/colleagues are often surprised to hear that I think of myself as an introvert!
I think there are lots of people like me ("fake extroverts") that can pass for extroverts. It's tiring though and I try to limit my socializing so that I spend most of my time with friends! Luckily my wife is also a fake extrovert, so we're on the same page there.
Any other fake extroverts out there?

I am a former extreme introvert but it creeps out once in awhile. I was just telling a friend I definitely do NOT want to announce my last day of work when I retire. (You have to stand in front of everyone and they come up and hug you and you usually have to say a few words. ) I'm stretching myself here and there to overcome my public speaking anxiety. I still hate saying hi and bye to groups and that moment everyone looks at you leaving. Or so I feel! Other than that, I don't think most people know unless I tell them.

I'm an introvert but can fake it when needed. But I don't like having to do it!
A lady I've worked with the other day was telling me how shy she was. I couldn't believe her, she is awesome at overcoming it.

Oh definitely a faker here. People are always surprised to hear. I lead a team at work and often have to speak in front of large audiences. I also have to lead meetings most of my days. It's so exhausting and I need prep and decompress time each day. But I fake it decently well I think! I'm worse at parties that have more than 7 people though (but less than 20?). For some reason, those situations are most difficult.

*raises hand* total faker over here! I do really well (generally) in social situations, I'm good at smoozing at work functions, etc. but it's so tiring for me. The one thing that I don't have to fake at is public speaking - doesn't bother me at all, no matter the size of group.

Ye this is me! I didn't know it had a name lol. I'm also a Gemini so I'm all over the place & my motto is, fake it till you make it , yet I hate having to do that but it's an every day occurrence.
I dislike having to talk about myself or being put in the spotlight and public speaking yet I'm a teacher/coach & fitness instructor in front of people all the time...

I don't think I'm a fake extrovert, but I am only extroverted in certain situations. I hate hate hate forced small talk with strangers (I never talk to seat mates on planes, for example) but I'm fine with/get energized from mingling with a larger group or being with people I know for a long period of time.

Yes, that sounds like me. People are always surprised when I describe myself as an introvert, but I think that's because extroversion is often confused with being outgoing. I can be very social and talkative, but I easily get exhausted by too much socializing. I need to recharge alone (or with DH. I count that as alone, haha).

That is me! As much as I love time with my family and friends I can't wait till I have alone time. It can be exhausting. I wish my husband was more of a introvert too because he could spend time with friends all day everyday and I just want quite nights at home 90% of the time.

I totally agree with @mrsscb! My coworkers and acquaintances are always shocked when I refer to myself as an introvert. My energy is totally drained after a day at the office, though. I'm a quiet homebody whenever I don't *need* to be out.

My husband! He's totally an introvert but nobody at work knows it. He recently had to do a 1-week leadership conference and told his boss and his boss was shocked because he gives presentations so well and converses comfortably with others. But it drains him like whoa. He said he basically went back to his room and sat in the dark silence afterwards to recover

That's me at work! The last couple of years I am working directly with clients and managing people, and I kind of like it but it's incredibly draining. I wish I could switch jobs with DH, he's a total extrovert and very good at managing, but he's the one doing analytical work with very little client interaction. Life's not fair sometimes!

Totally me. I enjoy being around people but definitely need time to recover. Parenting is really hard for this reason sometimes! It doesn't matter that they're my own sons … I just need a little space after awhile or I go a little crazy.

I've always considered myself an introvert, but I do very well in social situations. I was painfully shy as a kid and have worked hard to overcome it. I can have trouble meeting new people but I really enjoy being around other people that I already know (for ex. I have the option to work from home more often but I choose to come into the office because I like being around my co-workers). So I'm either a shy-ish extrovert or a fake introvert, I guess.

My husband! He's a former radio DJ and has hosted a million gigs with thousands of people but he's really uncomfortable in social settings. And he's never worked a job with coworkers that work side-by-side. As a DJ he was alone, booking agent, talent rep, etc.

This is me, people are surprised that when I mention I am an introvert. I think it's just how your recharge? I get super drained when I'm around a lot of people and have to be cheery (I am naturally cheery but it's still draining). I just need to lock myself in my room and read a book or play a video game on my phone to charge myself.
What's weird is that I'm usually the planner with my friend groups... I think it's because I can "control" how much time I see them.
DH is a shy extrovert so we work well together. I plan things and he carries us through the events.

That's me! I'm a nurtured/learned extrovert, so I can totally bring it 100% when needed, but I'm also 100% an introvert and need that alone time to recharge.

Yes, I like the best of both worlds- I get charged up, inspired, and motivated by working with my students and coworkers, but I'd rather have teeth pulled than go out in social situations.
I'm always happy that I went out, but it's just exhausting to me and I'd rather just be doing something with my family (not necessarily at home, out and about is great).
I appreciate that my career has made me so much more outgoing, otherwise I'd be that crazy cat hoarder that never leaves her house, but socially is rather hide.

Me! It's exhausting work, lemme tell you. It's why I'm so super popular on the internet. My social gatherings all happen in a very convenient location. My house. With ice cream. And no pants. HA.
