@wonderstruck: that's an awesome perspective! In our families it is all about the grandmothers and new grandmothers. I do get pampered on MD because DH does a lot of the chores that I usually do/we split up on weekends. And we usually plan something for the moms that I enjoy also. But we definitely have to schedule the day around our moms and grandmothers.

Well, DH's mom isn't alive anymore, but even if she was, she wouldn't live nearby. I don't do anything for my grandma because she's not my mother. My mom is coming over for dinner that day, and the rest of the day is for me.
