How's everyone doing? We keep getting our embryo storage bill in the mail and just keep ignoring it. It's really hard to take the final step to make it permanent... I really like life with one child and I can't really imagine having two, but it's hard to close the door completely.

@Mrs Green Grass: how old is your LO? Commenting to follow BC I am pregnant with our one and only! We decided a long time ago and feel very comfortable with the decision - although I will say it does tend to freak other people out. Oh well!!

Checking in. We are doing great, but like you, are not comfortable making “one and done” totally permanent.
LO just turned 3 and we *love* being a family of 3. Things feel complete and right and neither of us feels any desire (biological, societal, familial) to have more children.
My husband turns 50 this year (insane!), so we had talked about that we would make a FINAL decision on kids this year (knowing we are 99.9% sure we are one and done)….but now we’re here and I don’t feel pressure to decide rightnow what we’re going to do. So, we’re just going to continue to roll with our happy little family the way it is, until we want things to change.

Hi, checking in. my LO is 12 months old and I'm 99% sure we're one and done. The other 1% wants another just so my LO can have a sibling/playmate, but I personally do not want another one. I don't think I would be happy/happier with two kids, and I think the kid I do have deserves to have a happy, healthy mom.

We had decided on one before we got married and I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant. I'm, like 95% sure we'll be done after this one, but everyone says to wait and see how the first one goes. So our plan is for me to get an IUD after this one and that will give us 5 years. If I decide I'm up for a second (my husband would be all for a second) then it's easy to get removed. If not, I figure we should be sure by the end of 5 years and my husband can get snipped at that point.

Checking in! 31 weeks with number 1, and still feel strongly that we don't want more. Between all the stress surrounding pregnancy for us, and what @BabyTsMom said about it being better to have a healthy, happy mom, I can't imagine wanting more than 1.
It's still hard to think about making it permanent though. I plan on an IUD initially, but DH (who is even more set on just one than me, though if I really, really wanted 2 he'd be okay with it) wants to get snipped asap. I've already said he has to wait at least a year, and I'm guessing I won't be ready to make a final decision till LO is at least a preschooler. Even if I'm very sure, it's such a big step!

Well....we were one and done and I'm 32 weeks pregnant with number two, becasue neither of us could ever fully commit to closing the door permanently.

We're one and done... or were. I don't really know. I started really wanting a baby the last month!! But it would be at least a year off if we actually went for it. I feel very indecisive. It was weird to feel so adamant for 2+ years that we were done. done. done. no reconsiderations. But something changed - not sure what!

LO is 8 months, and we love our family of 3! Still have every intention of staying one and done - and husband has already volunteered to get a vasectomy in a few years - but we are waiting a few years just to be 100% certain.
Many of our friends who had kids around the same time as us are already talking about trying for # 2, and neither of us has the fever.

We're one and done, but my husband feels more strongly about it than I do. With our house, career plans, finances, etc it makes sense to stop. But there's an irrational but totally real part of me that wants another, that can't bring myself to get rid of baby clothes, that keeps wondering... what if??

I fell off the one and done wagon last year, sadly. Now that I've had time to adjust I'm really excited about my second, but I do feel sad about how fun and easy life is with one! I'm really going to miss that part.

Hi!! My LO is 2.5 and still strongly feel like we are one and done. I'm not ready to make anything permanent, but I'm so sick of pointless periods!

My son is 15 months and we vacillate constantly between being done, and having another. Definitely two would be the max for us, and if we do go for a second we'd wait at least another 2 years. We can't afford day care for 2 plus a mortgage plus expenses. I'll be at least 36/37 by the time we would start trying again, so it may be out of our hands anyway - I think when the time comes we would try for 6 months or so and if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen and we will both be at peace with it (I hope!).

@wrkbrk: my Lo is 2.5. My sister just had her second. Her kids are 3 years apart, she and I are 3 years apart, so I fee like this is the edge of the imaginary window. I'm okay with it, it's just a little more at the front of my mind at the moment. But at least I have a new little niece to dote on when I need to.

Checking in. DD is almost 3 and we're really enjoying the moment. We did decide to TTC earlier this year, but we've only half-hardheartedly tried (on one month, off for the next 2 months, on again for 1 month). I don't know. It just feels so nice right now.

LO is almost 6 months and my husband wants to be one and done. I'm still not sure. On the one hand, I did not like pregnancy, delivery, or the newborn period AT ALL! I really don't want to go through all that again.
But then another part of me wonders about how my child will feel about being an only once she's older, like school-age. Will she resent the fact that she doesn't have a sibling while other kids do? I think that's the only thing that is making me consider having another one.
Any one else have that thought?

Almost 8 months, my struggle with ppd/ppa gas firmly put me in the one and done camp. Before we had lo, DH was all about 2 or 3, but he's changed to 1 and done as well. If I'm being totally honest we can't afford another, day care is to expensive. I have 3 siblings and I'm excited to keep out family small.
