@SweetiePie: Yes, exactly! I'm going back to work in 2 months, and am looking at licensed home daycare, but my family back home asked if we were thinking of hiring a babysitter, in essence, a nanny. If we ever went that route, I don't think I could ever refer to her as such to my aunts; they already think some of my ideas are high-falutin' - babywearing, cloth diapers, etc.

And someone coming in twice a week sounds heavenly! I would love to have someone come in during the week, even for one day, so I could step out of the house for a haircut or clothes shopping (both are much needed right now) or any of the things I can't manage with my super active little guy in tow. As it is, I have to schedule things with DH for the weekends. It's a little late now, but I will remember it for future LOs!

@Astro Bee: I had a really really hard time with the newborn months. In hindsight maybe a little ppd? I really needed some time to recharge my batteries each week so that I wasn't a resentful, emotional mess. And I had a lot of anxiety around taking him out of the house so I truly was a hermit. So that was the impetus for getting a "nanny". I felt fine by 6 months but it's still really nice to have that time at 17 months since he really keeps my hands full. I truly did feel like it was time to get rid of her at one point (i.e. I didn't need the help anymore) but I actually felt bad because I know she needs the hours and she adores my son. So I'm keeping her till he's in preschool.
Anyways, my point is, she was hired out of necessity but it's become a very nice luxury. And I think I would do it for any subsequent LO's.
Good luck going back to work!
