When you get gifts at birthday parties, do you usually let your LO open them at the party, or do you do it later privately?

We never do it at our parties, it's just too chaotic. I prefer to do it at the end of the party once everyone is mostly gone so I can see what LO got (for thank you cards), and to make sure others don't help them open up all the new toys quite yet.
