I know a little girl named Kodi, but I prefer more traditional spellings. What do you think of a girl named Cody?
I also happen to think most boys named Jesse are very handsome. Kind of a "cowboyish" name. Opinions?

Jesse is an awesome boys name. It always has been...its a biblical name.
Now if you spell it Jessie, that's different.
Sorry, Cody is still a guys name for me.

I know brothers names Stacey and Lindsey. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.

My brother's are named Coty and Jesse, so those are masculine names to me.
ETA: my brother would agree that Jesse's are handsome.

I don't like boy names for girls. And I consider Jesse to be a boy name.

I think Cody works great for a girl. I'm a big fan of traditionally male names for girls. My daughter is named Elliott and I had a host of other male names we considered.
I think of Jesse as a boy name and Jessie as a girl name. I've known two male Jesses.

A little biased because I know a 27 year old lady named Cody so I think it works well for a girls name!

I like Jesse for a boy. But I once had a male student who spelled his name Jessie and it always bothered me!

I like them. I don't know any Jesse's in real life but I loved Jessie Spano on Saved by the Bell.

My daughter is Elliott and I love it!
Not sure about Jesse for a boy though because "jessie" is slang term here meaning wimp.

@Coffee-lover: I love Stacey, Lindsey, Tracy, Leslie and the like for boys. Although it's rather common, it's daring to me.
I didn't realize girl Jesses spell it Jessie. Hmm. I hadn't thought about the correct way to spell Cody if it was a girl. All of the girl and guy Jamies spell it the same. Is there an alternative spelling just for girls? I know Erin/ Aaron have distinct spellings.
@anonysquire: besides, your daughter I don't know anyone with her name, so Zuma from this point out is a girl's name!

I work with a male Stacy (no e), and a male Ashley. They are both in their 40s.

@Astro Bee: I believe these names were originally male names - Courtney, too.

@Shutterbug: i know that Gwen Stefani's son is named Zuma....
I have a name that can be for a girl or boy and I love it! That said, I do feel the spelling Cody is more for a boy. I like Jesse for a boy, although it does remind me a little of Uncle Jesse from Full House.

I think it's easier to get away with giving boy names to a girl than girl names to a boy. And so many names that were traditionally boy names, sound odd as boy names today (Leslie, Ashley. Etc).
I always thought of Jesse/Jessie as equally unisex- partly because of Jessica.

I'm a girl Jessie (forever correcting people who spell it without an i) and now in adulthood i love it, growing up I hated it! I had a step-cousin who was boy jesse, and literally at family functions we were called Girl Jessie and Boy Jesse...HATED IT (plus who at age 8 wants to start sharing their named with a new cousin haha)
I always said i would never give gender neutral names to my children....AND that didn't happen. My daughter is Emerson and we strongly considered Kellan for our second daughter. I just happen to like strong names for girls. However, I don't think I could name a boy a name that is sometimes used as a girl name.

I kind of like gender neutral names for girls like Riley. But if a name is more heavily associated as a boy's name, then I leave it as a boy's name.

@T.H.O.U.: You know a Dale as a female??? whoa never heard that one!

I know a male Loren pronounced Lauren. It's not my favorite name on a boy.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @Shutterbug: the only one I've heard with her name is Gwen stefanis son. So I guess that's why it makes me think boy? Although for a boy the name means devil and for a girl it means peace, so I like it for a girl

@stiletto_mom: I absolutely love Jesse for a boy and I wish DW had not vetoed it!!!!

I know a lady named Cody, she is from Mexico originally. So, I think its fine.

I love boys names for girls. Seriously love. Not as much a fan of girl names for boys.
I know two people named Cody - one girl, one boy.
As far as Jesse, we have a girl dog named Jessie. But, I think Jesse is fine for a boy too. I would probably drop the i though,

i don't think i would ever pick a boy name for my (hypothetical) daughter, but i am not against them.
