She was almost 8 months. My parents watched her so we could have time to ourselves for our anniversary.

13 months. It was the night his baby sister was born. He did really well but I don't see it happening again anytime soon.

A is 12 months and still hasn't. We don't imagine she will for quite a long time.

5 months! We went to a wedding and Xander stayed with my in-laws! It was a good time to do it because separation anxiety hadn't set in yet, so it went really well.

He's 7 months and I'm in a "I'll never leave you" clingy mommy phase so he never has and never will

I guess I'm the minority. DS first slept over my sister's house at around 4 months. He sleeps over about once a month.

She's 17 months and has never been away from me for longer than a few hours max and no overnights. Baby #2 is arriving in Feb though, when she'll be 19 months old, so that will likely be her first overnight away from us. I sob just thinking about it! Clingy mummy much?!
ETA: we live far away from our families, were they closer, it would probably be a slightly different story!
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@Mamasig: you are very fortunate! We didn't have family nearby for the longest time. My ILs are back now but have never offered to have her sleepover and I highly doubt they will until she is much older.
BIL has once but I'm not sure I trust him for that yet .
And when my mom comes visit I view it as a little vacation for her bc she watches my same age nephew and does night time. So I don't have the heart to ask her. Lol

She was a year old. She did great! I would do it early when they can't talk or remember. We did it again after she was 2 and she was not happy. Would not let us live it down for quite some time ...

@locavore_mama: you're right about that! They always ask for him to sleep over. He has a good time playing with his cousins. I don't know if I would trust other family members!

@Mamasig: that's awesome!! My two brothers live near each other and my nieces and nephews are like that. Usually when they go over for dinner they end up begging to stay over. LOL. It's amazing to have close cousins. that is something I'm sad my lo won't get to experience.

LO was 2.5 months and stayed with my parents for 2.5 days.
I haven't left the baby yet.

Hasn't happened yet, no plans any time soon. I think we'd probably both be fine but he still nurses before bed at 12m and it's not worth it to me to pump and mess with all that. He sleeps early & easily (usually) so we get plenty of alone time at home!

16 months and hasn't happened yet. I'm not ready and he doesn't sleep good outside of our house.

At 6 months we left him with the grandparents for 4 nights when we went on vacation. Haven't left the baby yet

I have spent the night elsewhere, but DD and DS were with DH in our house. DD and DS have never spent the night at someone else's house without me or DH (like when we visit family). DD is 3.5 years old and DS is 21 months old, I don't see them sleeping over at someone's house any time soon.

LO is 14 months and I'll be having my first night away from her on Saturday. I'm already freaking out because I've only been away from her 3 hours max, and this will be almost 24 hours. My sil is going to look after her while we go to a concert, and the plan is for lo to stay there the whole night and sil will drop her home on sunday - but I've told sil that if lo doesn't seem to be comfortable/not having a good night then we'll pick her up on the way home (will be about 11pm)

She's almost a year and has been doing overnight with both grandparents since about 4-5 months. I wanted to get her used to it early and all parties love it. This past weekend was the first time she spent 2 nights and my dad told her she could stay whenever and as long as she wants - ha!

15 months old and I haven't been away from him overnight yet. It'll happen next month though for a couple of days ahead of NYE and next March for a wedding.

Never yet! Almost 4... Hmm! we don't have family close by. We have had them come to babysit while we were gone though.

LO was almost 23 months old, and he stayed at my in-law's for two nights. It was rough but a much needed experience. A few months later we left him with my sister for a week, and he was better prepared and well behaved. My in-law's try to take him once a week to help me out now that the baby is here.

I have been away on a bunch of business trips, the first of them when she was 10 months old but she was always home with DH so I'm not sure if that counts.

6 months with DD. Haven't done it yet with DS, but we're about to next weekend and he'll be a little over 9 months (as you know!).

8 months, when LO stayed at my parents' house while we went to a wedding. he was still young enough that i don't think it made a big difference.

I left DS with DH overnight for the first time two weeks ago (he's 15 mos) and we will leave him with our nanny overnight in December for the first time. He'll be 16 mos and will be staying at our house.

R stayed with my parents last month at 4 months old. We had a wedding out of town.

We left LO overnight when she was 8 weeks old. We had a wedding to go to and my parents kept her (Saturday late afternoon to Sunday morning).
I'm very thankful we have family close by that we trust completely. We've been able to leave LO overnight several times and we've even been able to go out of town for several days.

We've never both been away overnight at the same time, but I left her at 7 months for a work trip.

Well I feel like the "bad" mom LO stayed at MILs when she was 2 months old for about 12 hours. We went out with friends to watch a football game & MIL wanted us to sleep in. We were there to get her by 7 am It was about 12 hours total. I have no problem with an overnight here and there, but more than 24 hours I can't handle.
