    @Cupcake: I couldn't bring myself to paint those!! Honestly, I think a new, lighter backsplash would make a huge difference!

    @PurplePumps: I have a serious love/hate with the backsplash. I would love just white subway. A man designed our kitchen.

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: no they're vinyl. And brand new. Why do they even sell brown vinyl windows?

    Edit- how can you reply to people on another page in one comment?

    @Cupcake: your cabinents are gorgeous! But I do think they'd look nice white.

    @Cupcake: I agree with previous poster. I'd change the backsplash in a second and go for lighter.

    @Cupcake: we have brown vinyl exterior! It matches our home though.

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: those look great!

    This is what we have. Not horrible for how old they are but they are really dark. I'm afraid they'd look stupid white since there isn't any detail to them.

    @ladybee: you culd always replace the doors & paint everything to match!

    @Mrs. Jump Rope: do you think wood doors would look ok on the laminate?

    @ladybee: now that ours are painted you can't tell they're laminate.

    @blackbird: Your cabinets look amazing!

    I've been considering doing this because we have oak cabinet and oak floors and I am so sick of the oak! But our granite is called "tropical brown" and I'm not sure it would look good with white cabinets. Here are a couple pics (not of my kitchen but close enough - we have the same set up, island, no backsplash and black appliances)

    What would you guys do?

    @MrsTiger: I'm in the same boat as you, oak cabinets and oak floors, but our counters are a gray granite pattern.

    @ladybee: I'm just now seeing this, but Jenny at LGN built up her flat-front cabinets to give them some detail. Here's how she did it: http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2012/11/diy-shaker-style-cabinets-part-2.html
