Hellobee Boards

I am not a mom to a boy but I have nannied for two boys over the age of 6 so I can chime in with my observations from that. Both boys were on the more sensitive end of the spectrum - both at home and at school/activities so perhaps that plays into what I saw. But basically, they both still really needed their mothers a great, great deal even at 10+. Both dads were "men's men" if you will, college football players and still very active in sports. These boys needed someone to be soft and gentle with them and guide them through the rough spots. Clearly my sample size is tiny and I would say they needed their fathers more after 6 than before but the idea of mom taking a back seat is silly to me.

The one other thing I thought about was that when I was teaching I found 3rd and 4th grade boys to be very sensitive in general. The very young male gym teacher kind of struggled with them sometimes because they could get really emotional and he just didn't know what to do about it.
