I have each daughter's initial hanging together on one chain, along with a pair of tiny silver Tiffany hearts my husband gave me before we were even engaged. It sounds like a lot, but the overall effect is nice; it's my go-to casual necklace (actually, I don't usually take it off unless I'm putting on a different necklace).

My intention is to eventually give each girl her initial, but not until they are old enough to take care of them/not lose them at school.

I used to just wear a simple n for DS1 and then got this one so that I could have both initials. I love it but I don't see it being an heirloom at all since it's not the highest quality. Don't get me wrong, it's not crap and I absolutely love it.

@catgirl- I love my Helen Ficalora charms! I saw them first on Liz Lemon on 30 Rock and my husband traveled to Chicago for work, perfect gift!
I have one with my son's initial and then I liked the doggie print one, but my husband got me our dog's initial! So now I wear 2 and people know how much we adore our dog

I have one of the Tiffany's Elsa Pereti initial necklaces. I love it because it's simple but somewhat stylized.

I have purchased several mom necklaces from the seller Tnine Design on Etsy and she has been phenomenal. Her workmanship is top notch, she uses great, high quality materials, and has super cute designs to choose from (and is happy to make a custom piece). I love her!

I have two disks, an initial for each daughter. Then I also have two tiny birthstone charms on it, also corresponding to my daughters' birth months!

This is what mine is like. If I have another LO I'll probably take the birthstone off and put a second initial.
