It's a mall photo place and we have a gift card there so I was going to do our Christmas pics there for our cards. Any experience with them? Also, if you have experience there, can you comment on the low res ($35) v. high res CD ($150)?

I've been there twice, once with each DD. they were at two different locations and two different photographers, of course. One photog was more baby-friendly than the other, but either way, I ended up being pretty happy both times. I set my expectations low though! They had a sale the last time we went, and we got the high res CD for $100 ($50 off!).

Look to see if there's a Groupon first - I just bought one for $16. It gets you a ton of photos (just one pose, but you can purchase a large print of the others for $18/ea).
I wasn't terribly impressed. We ended up reviewing 11 shots total. Two were of the three of us and I really wanted a nice family photo. They were pretty hideous but I bought one anyway. The photos of DS were precious but I tend to think he's adorable in all his photos, hehe. I ended up buying an additional print of solo-DS.

@rachiecakes: Thanks! Someone gave us a gift certificate there so I feel like I should use it rather than spending money with a one on one photographer....I'm not sure how much the gift card is for (maybe $100?) I'm hoping to get a few good shots of DS for our holiday card (that I'll print from Tiny Prints or something).

I just went there today! I was so impressed and I had very low expectations. I found a groupon for $9 for a bunch of pictures so I figured I would give it a try. Here is one of the pictures we got!

@MamaBehr: Really cute!!! I like the filter on that picture, too.

as a photographer, i can't recommend picture people (sorry!), but i can recommend getting a high resolution cd. if you only plan on posting online and getting small prints done (4x6, 5x7) the low res will be fine, but the bigger you try to print, the more and more you'll need the high res files. it's so awesome someone gave you a gift card for photos though - great gift!

@photojane: I think we are just going to use the picture for our christmas card this year and maybe print a few 5x7- do you think that low res would be ok for that?

@MamaBehr: Cute!!
I've heard mixed results on Picture People. We have a photographer who we got a package from and has been doing all of our photos for LO. We are getting B's 6 months pictures done the first weekend in Dec.

@krsmall: Yeah we've gotten professional ones done and I obviously prefer that, but these are FREE!

I have found that the coupons for picture people aren't as good as jcpenny or sears but we have taken photos there a few times. They take walk ins so when we were in a pinch we did it there.
Also, same with jcpenny or sears, it really depends on the photographer you get. Some really love photographing kids and work to get the great shots, for others it's just a job that taught them how to use a camera. So it can be hit or miss.
As for the cd they told me the low res was ok or sharing on Facebook and emails but not good for printing. They could have just been trying to sell the higher cd so I don't know for sure, that's just what they told me.
