DH was in an accident this morning, and chances are, his car it totaled. We were planning on buying a new car for me next year, but this changes things a bit. Of the four, which would you choose?
Our criteria:
1. Must be Honda or Toyota (we'll maybe consider others, but probably not Ford or Chevy)
2. Must have 3rd row seating.

I voted Odyssey because I have one and I love it. Sienna was a close second. We test drove Pilot and Highlander, but in the end the 3rd row just wasn't that functional (for us). We have grandparents to tote around, and there just wasn't enough leg room. So sorry to hear about the accident!

I love the highlander...I like SUV's more than minivans and Toyota over Honda.

Hope he's okay!! Like HLK208, I prefer SUV's over vans, and Toyota's over Honda so Highlander gets my vote! We have a sequoia and I love it!!

I hope your hubs is ok!!
I've had two Highlanders and loved them!! But I will say the third row is really only usable for kids. Or one small adult. So if you want to use it regularly a van might be more appropriate for you.

My sister has a highlander that is super nice. The 3rd row is handy because when lots of people are riding, the kids go in the back--haha.
The downside to SUVs are that, generally speaking, the gas mileage is much more than a minivan.

I voted Honda Pilot since my parents had one that I liked. Although, I have to confess, we're a Ford family. FIL works for Ford and will practically disown us if we own a foreign car, especially Japanese. We replaced our Ford Escape with a Jeep Liberty recently. Any reason you won't consider Ford or Jeep?

@LindsayInNYC: DH just prefers Hondas and Toyotas... He's not a huge fan of American auto companies. Though, he's not too anti-Ford. And we've just always driven Hondas and Toyotas. We like them.

@Weagle - Totally understandable! Jeep is American but part of Chrysler. Might be another option if you don't find a good Honda or Toyota?

I'm a big fan of the pilot my friend has but our friends have a highlander and love it. We are also considering all these SUVs when the time comes to replace our cars. I will avoid mini vans until I am forced to buy one, which will hopefully be never!

Hope he's ok! We test drove the Pilot and the Highlander. We didn't really like the Highlander and the Pilot was too boxy and expensive for us. (mini vans were also too expensive and too expansive, haha, for us.) We started looking elsewhere (we've had 5 Hondas in a row so it was tough to look at something else) and ended up with a Mazda CX-9 after test driving it and falling in love with it. It was also pricey but we made it work with leasing and plan to buy it at the end of our lease.
I LOVE IT.

I have a Pilot and the third row is definitely useable for adults, but probably not tall adults, haha

Pilot....hands down.
I am a firm believer that hondas are the best cars out there and I love the way the pilots look.

We are between the pilot, the highlander, and the Nissan pathfinder, but leaning towards the pathfinder. Everyone I know who has a pilot loves it though. Most people say the highlander doesn't drive that great and the third row is tiny.
