Since when is a size 10 plus-sized? Who called her a plus size model? SI? I hope they get CALLED.OUT. Shit's crazy.
ETA: Yeah, so a quick Google search shows me that this is not the woman they're talking about. The woman they're talking about is a size 12-14, and looks more "plus-sized" (according to that world). She has more curves and "meat" on her. I still don't really agree that 12-14 is plus-sized, but that's an argument for another day.

I didn't think this was the one they were referring to - I remember seeing a picture of a larger woman, size 16, in my fb feed yesterday.

@littlebug: Seriously, I would kill to be a size 10 and look like that!

Did a quick search, and couldn't see where SI was promoting her as a plus sized model?
<< While a U.S. size 12 would typically qualify as plus-size in the fashion industry — even though the average American woman is a size 14 — Lawley doesn’t like to focus on labels.
“I don’t know if I consider myself as a plus-size model or not,” Lawley, who is represented by Wilhelmina Models, says. “I just consider myself a model because I’m trying to help women in general accept their bodies. ”
MJ Day, assistant managing editor of Sports Illustrated (which, like TIME, is owned by Time, Inc.), says Lawley had been on her radar for years and is being highlighted as a model rather than as a “plus size” model.
“She sort of embodies the classic SI girl — she’s interesting, she’s beautiful, she has an incredible body, and I felt that she would make a great addition to the issue,” Day says. “It was simple as that.” >>

Not isure if the plus size label is coming from SI or from other media outlets?

@abbylyn: that is for an advertisement, she is a 16
This girl is not plus size, at all!

@mrbee: Oh, see, I'm reading about Ashley Graham being the first "plus-sized" model to appear.
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@littlebug: Yah I thought Ashley was the plus sized model everyone was talking about too! But I think she is just doing an ad in the magazine?

Oh yeah, Robyn Lawley is generally referred to as a plus size model. Which is ridiculous, obviously. Nonetheless, she is gorgeous!

Wait the girl in the first picture is allegedly plus sized? In what world? Does she just have giant bones? cause she doesn't look like a size 12 to me.
The second picture, of the girl in the black bikini is more in line with what I would consider "plus" (I use that term loosely, because... the world is ridiculous.)

@psw27: It's so silly -- it's because she's freaking 6'2". So naturally she'll wear a larger size, but that does not make her "plus-size." I've seen her referred to as plus-size in other magazines and I'm always like, "Uhh, wtf?"

@MrsSCB: Bahaahah what a joke. She uhhh looks like a normal super model to me. Sigh... I really want a daughter someday, but I am scared for her! The world is so tough.

Yeah that is Robyn Lawley. She is technically advertised as a "plus sized model" (she's also like, about to pop with a baby right now!). I love her and find her a wonderful inspiration and this is easily the slimmest I've ever seen her in all her magazine ads. She usually just looks a little softer, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was pretty heavily edited, per SI's standards.
No, we don't consider her plus sized. She doesn't even consider herself plus sized. But the swimsuit and lingerie industry certainly does. She models for Bella model, an Australian agency that only hires for models size 10+.

@psw27: Yes, it is scary. I still find myself looking at magazine photos and thinking, "Damn, I work out a lot, I eat pretty well, why don't I look like this?!" And then I see something un-photoshopped and it's like, "Ohhhh...." It's far too easy to fall into that self-critical mentality, so I worry for young girls

Robyn Lawley is the one people are talking about. She's a size 16, which is plus size. 14 is the size that plus size stores generally start at.

Ashley Graham was not actually in sports illustrAted issue, but appeared in an add and their "swimsuits for all campaign," I believe. Could be wrong. Robyn Lawley in fact is the plus sized model who is actually featured in a spread in the magazine, and yeah, I don't think there's anything plus sized about her!
They're both gorgeous!
I don't see how she's a size 12 though, because I'm a smaller size than that and feel much bigger!

I know we are still in the age of vanity sizing, but SI is just plane rude for reminding us what a true 12 looks like. Her body is amazing and actually looks attainable through healthy eating and exercise.
The Curves model looks plus size. I probably wouldn't wear that even if my shape was more hour glass, but thick chick's like her wear their confidence and bikinis well!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I think she looks amazing in that bikini! mainly because of her hourglass shape, but also, I can't wonder how she manages to stay so dimple free? Or if that's just photoshop...

They're both beautiful! And I don't get the whole plus-size label on either of them! Guess that's SI for ya though.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I think it is the other way around.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: It's gotta be photoshop (right?) I was actually thinking earlier that it looks kind of 'shopped based on the smoothness and uniformity of color -- something looks a bit off. Anyway, I'm smaller and have more cellulite! But then I suppose that could mostly be genetics (thanks, mom! )

She doesn't look even a tiny bit plus sized. But, how tall is she? A size 12 looks different on a 6' person than on someone who is shorter.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@erinpye: she's 6'2"
Here's another photo of her modeling swimsuits. I think she seriously upped the exercise and diet regimen for this SI shoot, because *this* is more reminiscent of the stuff I see her post.
