Signs of Readiness: He says "pee pee", points to bathroom door and says pee pee, lots of interest in toilet, pulls down his pants, when he's wet points to his diaper and asks to sit on toilet
Purchases: toilet seat cover
Strategy: We are going for a laid back approach. We are getting him used to his potty seat and potty words.

I have a few products that have made the whole process a lot easier, and they're long lasting:
Bemis integrated toilet seat, for home (you can find it at Home Depot too):

Age of LO: 20 months
Signs of readiness: Tells us when she does/is doing "poo poo" and likes to wave bye bye to it when we dump her diaper in the toilet, is interested in adults using the toilet, talks about "pee pee" and shows me the potty, tells me she's "itchy" when she's too wet.
Purchases: a basic, stand alone potty
Strategy: Casual. The interest and vocabulary has been going on since 16-17 months. We bought the potty around 18 months, and invite her to sit on it if she's talking about potty stuff, but mostly she says no and prefers playing with the potty instead. Just today I convinced her to sit for a bit by singing, so we may try that going forward!
