My son had pink eye about a week ago
I’ve had a bad cold all week and I went to urgent care this morning because my eye was all red
They confirmed it and prescribed me some eye drops
I looked them up and they are a class C drug so I’m freaking out a little bit
Anyone else take antibiotic drops during pregnancy? Looking for some reassurance that baby will be ok... I’m in the third trimester

Very, very, very little probably gets into your bloodstream to actually get to baby since your body doesn't metabolize it to get it to work.

@magnolia: I woke up with pink eye today too! Gross. I’m 11 weeks pg. I had some drops leftover from a previous infection so I started taking them right away. Did your doc prescribe them knowing you are pg? Should be okay then?

@Autumnmama79: ugh it’s the worst. The doctor at urgent care prescribed them and assured me it was ok. I see my ob tomorrow so I will double check also. Hope yours clears up ASAP

@Autumnmama79: i will! I’m regretting not having my Son finish the entire cycle of drops (7days?) maybe I wouldn’t have caught it

Mine cleared up really quickly with the over the counter drops. Like in one day. So hopefully yours is gone soon!

A lot of drugs get a category C for pregnancy, when they have very low risks in most other people because no one is really willing to play guinea pig with their unborn child for a study.

Very little eye drops get into the blood stream. My opthalmologist told me to put it in my eye and press the corner of my eye by my nose. That will keep most of it just in your eye. I had to be on steroid eye drops for something else while I was breastfeeding.
