When in your pregnancy did you start drinking raspberry leaf tea (if you did) and how often did you drink it? I am 38 weeks tomorrow and just started brewing up big batches of iced tea to start drinking daily!

I started drinking it at 28-weeks... and I started taking Evening Primrose Oil at 38-weeks.

I started drinking it around 36 weeks, I think. I only drank around 16oz or so a day.

What is it supposed to do? I was just wondering about this! (Hope this isn't a thread jack! If it is, ignore!)

@knittylady: My understanding is that it helps encourage uterine contractions and can be added to the mix of pineapple, yoga ball, sex, walking, etc. to help encourage labor.
To those who did use it, do you think it helped stimulate labor at all?

@maybebaby: @knittylady: It actually helps strengthen the uterine muscles to make contractions more effective, it's doesn't induce in any form or fashion though.
I started drinking it in the 3rd trimester, a few glasses a day. Next time I think I'll start earlier with less, I think a cup a day is the recommended about for the 1st trimester (I'll have to look it back up for sure though)

I'm going to start now that I'm 36 weeks. A lot of people say that you can start from the 2nd trimester, but I was a little wigged out at the uterine "toning" properties causing something to happen earlier than it should.

I started at 37-38 weeks ... not sure if it helped!

I started it at 40+4, and I went into labour 40+5. I will definitely get onto drinking it again next time!

I started taking the capsules around 30 weeks and started the tea around 34 weeks. My contractions were pretty effective I think, up to a point. I progressed from 5 cm (when I went in to be induced) to 9 pretty steadily.

Started at 32 weeks. My contractions were super strong and efficient. Delivered without meds in 6 hours from start to finish!

I started at 20ish weeks. My doula suggested it, she said it 'tones your uterus'. I mixed it with hot apple cider all winter, delicious!

I started drinking it at 36 weeks and moved on to supplements at 38 weeks when i had trouble drinking more than 2 cups of tea a day. haha I took EPO too and think they both really helped. My contractions were super efficient and I dilated pretty quickly.

@runsyellowlites: Ah, thank you for clarifying--that sounds way less intense and scary! Haha.

Just found this thread, my chiropractor recommends I start drinking this to help prevent miscarriage (I am 4w5d). Supposedly it increases circulation to the pelvic area and uterus specifically. Anyone heard of it in early pregnancy?

I started drinking it sometime in the third tri. I made big batches of it iced too.
@Emsmems: I've heard not to drink it in your first tri. I could be totally wrong but for some reason I was told or heard that somewhere...

@MamaJ: the more I'm looking, the more it seems it's contoversial. But most articles that support it say talk about it for morning sickness, not m/c prevention, and I'm not super sick. So maybe I'll hold off on drinking it until 2nd or 3rd trimester!
