I have a scheduled section planned for 10/13 unless baby girl has another birthday in mind! Wondering if any repeat c section moms experienced shorter hospital stays with baby 2?

My OB told me that if I want to go home quicker to let her know in advance. She used staples the first time (which were removed just before I went home). She said if I desire to go home faster she will use stitches so that I don't have to come back to get my staples removed.
I'm likely to want to go home faster this time.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: so you wish you stayed the extra day? I'm assuming being home with baby and toddler you didn't let yourself rest?

@MamaG: me too! I don't want to be too excited and leave early to my detriment!

@Nskillet: I can't imagine what an extra night would have given me.... I had a horrible hospital stay, to be honest, and was itching to go home.
I had better sleep/rest at home than I did at the hospital! The only advantage I can see is the extra day of "free" meds. I went home with a script, where as in the hospital I would have had another 24 hours with pain meds THEN a script.
But that's about it.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: awesome perspective! My DH only gets 1 week off this time due to a new job so honestly less hospital time sounds really good.to us. I would love to be discharged by Wednesday!!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: if you had a good experience in the hospital and your older lo was taken care of would you have stayed the full amount of time?

@Mrs. Lion: maybe.
I had Charlotte on a Tueaday. My husband had three weeks off work, and his first week was "wasted" with me in the hospital.
If I had had Charlotte on a Friday, then yes, I would have stayed the entire time.
But as it was, I came home on a Thursday. I wanted the extra time at home to get used to our new normal & new routine so I could heal, rest, and get used to doing things on my own since I really only had two weeks to figure it all out with his help.

My 1st was super short - Military hospital and they needed my bed - ha! It was 2 day stay.
With DD I stayed 4 - the nurse told me to relax and enjoy it because once I was home there would be no rest! She was right!

Same - 4 days
With DS1, he ran a fever and dropped too much weighting the 2nd day. So they ran tests to make sure there was no infection. We had to wait for the results.
With DS2, he had jaundice and had too wait for his bilirubin levels to begin to go down.
The second time around I learned that insurance pays the same amount whether I was there 2 days or 4 days. Might as well get my money's worth.

My first was an induction that started on Tuesday night. LO was born on Thurs and we went home on Saturday.
Second was a RCS. She was born on Thurs and we also went home on Saturday.
Good luck!
