Mine is finally dead after 10 yeara of use. Technology has come a long ways sense then. What do you recommend? I have lots of fine hair.

I personally love my CHI and think it's totally worth the money, but I have heard their quality has gone down in recent years (not sure if it's true or not). But I love it, used it every day for 4-5 years now.

Love my CHI. I have fine hair, and my mom is a hair dresser and this is what she's used forever. She swears by it for thin or thick, curly hair!

Third vote for the CHI. I have lots of fine hair too and my CHI has been going strong for several years.

I have a Sedu and it only takes me 10 minutes to straighten my curly, longish hair. I'm only on my second one- the first one died after 7 years I think.

I have the BaByliss porcelain ceramic. I think its 1" wide (which after many years I finally realized that thinner is better than wider when it comes to straighteners. I used to get the wider 'paddle' looking ones). I really love it.
I think its like $50 which is middle of the road. I don't use it enough to justify a more expensive one. I have friends who swear by the Chi though.

I've had both a Chi & a Sedu. Both are great & lasted a long time. I have med/fine hair that's got a bit of waive/curl to it.

CHI! I have thick wavy hair and it does a fabulous job! And I've probably had it for 6+ years.

Chi!
I've had mine for 7 years and its still in great condition. It works great on my thick, curly hair and on my sisters thin hair.

GHD. Love mine, works amazingly on my thick, thick hair, as well as my sisters thinner, fine hair.

The chi is really great, but it's not healthy for thin hair because it only has one heat setting!
I have the remington frizz therapy, and it allows for multiple heats - I love it And it's half the price of a chi. It was voted best straightener at Allure magazine. http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=2223537&productId=xlsImpprod2670015&navAction=push&navCount=1

I have thick, coarse hair and the CHI was crap for me. I love my Amika! Works so well and leaves my hair soft and smooth.

I got an Avanti flat iron for my birthday last year and LOVE it! I also have lots of fine hair and it straightens easily and quickly. Also has different heat settings. I had a Babyliss before that and the Avanti is far superior. Pretty sure they're under $100 as well. It might only be available in Canada though...
