We took the two sets of grandparents out to dinner. We found out at 34 weeks so there was no photo or social media announcement

We took our moms with us to the anatomy scan. MIL was so excited she told everyone on their side before we were even done with the scan. My mom kept quiet so I texted my siblings and dad since they were all waiting to find out. If we have another I'd like to do something small. Cake or balloons or something.

We didn't do any special,. We were all eating at the table, and suddenly just lifted my t-shirt. We had written Baby boy on my belly. That said it was in the middle of the hot summer, and only my close family were there.

Jumbo cupcakes with blue icing in the middle. When my mom got to the middle part she said something about the Smurfs.
With DH I put blue noisemakers in a box. He didn't get it, but in all fairness the room had poor lighting and I put two noisemakers in the box.

#1 - it was around Chinese New Year so I printed out 8 sheets of paper. 1 of the 8 sheets revealed the gender. The remaining 7 sheets said "good luck and good fortune" or "Happy New Year!". I folded each sheet up and put them in lucky red envelopes. Then at the end of New Year's dinner, I had family members pick a red envelope. Then told them to open it up all at the same time.
#2 - DH had a blue balloon while I had pink balloon. They were not inflated. Then we blew into them together. Some times, he'd blow harder while I blew softer and vice versa to keep the suspense up. When they were the same big size, DH let his go while I kept mine inflated.
