Maybe it was because your plate looked healthy? My boss made that comment to me once I told him. He said oh I knew something was up because all of sudden you're eating so healthy. Um no, you're wrong dude. I had been eating salads every day even before I was pregnant. People are so nonsensical sometimes.

Ugh I'm sorry this happened to you. I hate, hate, hate when people make comments about what I'm eating, pregnant or not. Back away from my plate and mind your own business!!!!

When people used to ask me if we were going to try again after our devastating miscarriage I would tell them we were working hard at practicing to make perfect, that got them thinking and shut them up!

I was bracing for this to happen, but this past weekend when I was holding my new 6 week old niece for the first time EVERYONE stopped what they were doing and stared at me the entire time. I'm talking an entire room of about 15 people who were engaged with something else turned to stare. I knew what they were all thinking, but my uncle had the gall to actually say "Boy Moderndaisy I have to say I really like how you look holding a baby"

They were all waiting, staring and judging every move I made with the baby and the room erupted with laughter when she started to get fussy and I didn't know what to do. My Mom in a very condescending way grabbed her out of my arms and started burping her. She made a big show of it that was clearly meant to demonstrate how much of an expert she was compared to me. Prior to that she hadn't given my niece the time of day and didn't even realize she was in the same room!

Last Christmas, my dad's family got together at my aunt/uncle's house. My cousin (their daughter) just had a baby in October. Most of my cousins on my dad's side are 10ish years older than my sister and I, so we are still treated as little kids. I went to hold the baby and my mom said "watch her head now!" and the entire room watched me like a hawk.

I was sooo pissed because I work in early childhood. I teach pre-k but during the summers, I work at a daycare and I'm in the infant room a lot. You know, mom's who hardly even know me trust me to hold their 6 week old babies and care for them, but my family thinks I'm too young /incompetent. I can't wait to see how they react in a few weeks when we announce that I'm pregnant!
