I am LOVING it. I just finished episode 5 and I'm sad that I'm not going to get through it before the weekend and I'll have to wait until Monday, but on the other hand it's so good and it makes my commute fly by so I don't want to "waste" it by finishing it on the weekend.
@T.H.O.U.: It's a bit hard to explain without giving anything away. It's from the This American Life and Serial people, and it starts with a guy writing into TAL to suggest that somebody come to his small town in Alabama to investigate a murder that he apparently heard somebody bragging about but that nobody was ever charged with. I don't want to tell you where it goes from there but it's so good and so addictive.

I'm almost through Episode 5. I've cried a couple of times already. I have lots of thoughts but might wait to finish it all to share. I will say that being from a small southern town a lot of it feels
so familiar... the politics, the gossip, the number of churches compared to the number of people living in poverty, the fact that people never leave, etc. My brother reminds me of John B quite a bit. And my other brother's friends make me thing of Tyler and all his friends.

I'm on Episode 4. The first episode I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not, but I think it's gotten more and more fascinating and I'm really into it now.

Gah it's so good!! I'm halfway through chapter 7, so almost done (the upside of having a commute??). I'm going to be sad when it ends.

I'm really liking it. I think on episode 6 now.
@T.H.O.U.: There's a murder mystery that turns into another kind of mystery. It's set in Alabama and centers around this guy who's feels he never really fit in to the culture he always lived in. That's probably as descriptive as I can be without giving away too much. The first episode was kind of meh, but it gets much better in the second.

I just finished up chapter 3 and starting 4. So good!
@Mrs. Blue: I also wasn't sure after listening to chapter 1 but it's been very addictive and i love the way the story has been unfolding.

Finished last night - the last episode was A LOT.
Also this is an interesting article about the show and issues of privacy and consent that I didn't really think about, and I'm not sure how much I agree, but a good read: http://www.vox.com/culture/2017/3/30/15084224/s-town-review-controversial-podcast-privacy

I just finished it now ... I really, really enjoyed the series. So depressing, but oddly magical?

I loved it. Like you, I know a lot of people like this. The area and mindsets are so familiar. It was so heartbreaking and thought provoking

I'm only on episode 5 but your comments have me wanting to binge listen. Thankfully I'm on spring break next week and I'm hopeful I can find some time to finish up the series before I hear too many spoilers!!!

I finished it today. I found it really compelling, but I couldn't help but feel weirdly voyeuristic, I think because of some of the privacy issues raised in that Vox article. I didn't agree with all of the article, but it articulated why I felt vaguely squeamish as the focus shifted deeper and deeper into John B's private life post mortem. Still, it was a powerful piece that will stick with me a while.

@rattles: yes, totally. I couldn't stop listening but it definitely felt a bit invasive to be listening to all the details of his private life.
