LO is almost 4 months so in the next few months he's going to start crawling and we're going to hit up Gymboree. Other than that anyone else have any idea how to meet more Mommy's to try to gain a little network? It sometimes just seems so hard! I know as he gets older you'll just meet them at parks and other play areas so is it just a waiting game?

charlie didn't have any friends since he was born in the winter and pretty much stayed home most of the time until he was 6 months old. then we started a music class, and he was enrolled in one class until he was about 15 months. he made a ton of friends in his kidville classes (like gymboree), as well as on the playground. it is much easier to make playdates once your LO is walking because that's when they really start getting into playing with other kids.
as far as meeting other moms, i was part of a mom group through the place where i took birth preparation classes. my local listserv is also a great place to connect with local moms. are there any local parenting sites you can join? where are you located? maybe you can meet some moms on hellobee!

Church is a great place to meet mommy friends. I think each city has a mommy group too. I've considered joining, but eh. Maybe when my LO gets older. I was thinking of joining a mommy and me class, but the closest one is about 30 mins away and didn't work with LO's nap schedule.

I've found myself becoming much more aggressive when it comes to meeting new moms. If I see a baby who looks about my little one's age I walk right up and introduce myself. I live in a pretty small town so I try to strike up a conversation if I find the other mom receptive I offer up my email address - then it's on her to contact me!
Also - try your local library, they usually have good (free!) classes.

Luckily, I know a good handful of women who are also on mat leave so we get together once a month. I've also signed LO and I up for swimming class in January so hopefully I can meet some people there.

The only mommy friends I know are the ladies at my church, most of them are SAHMs as well.

I haven't done much in the way of making new friends but I made one friend via the Stroller Strides message board. She is a really good mommy friend now. Do they have Stroller Strides by you?

I'm not part of a church (not looking either) so that option is out. There is a stroller strides near me but maybe I just need to suck it up and join that. I honestly hate group exercise though. I much more of a gym person.
There are a lot of mom's around me that I see when walking I just feel like a dork striking up a conversation. Maybe it will be easier, as Bee said, when he's walking and we're at the park or something!

@venice4504: I should have said that neither of us ever went to Stroller Strides either! She just posted a message trying to meet local moms and I replied. You could try that.

I met most of my SAHM friends through my church, which has a lot of them. Through Sundays, Bible Studies, and small groups, you can really build up some deep relationships!

I have friends that met mommy friends from Meetup.com. Life is pretty hectic for me right now, but when things slow down I'm planning on finding a play group there.

Library, church, and a mommy's group.
Honestly though I haven't met anyone who I call outside of those times but some ladies I'm very happy to see when I'm there.

I contacted old friends on Facebook that were pregnant at the same time as me.
I also registered online on a website called Meetup.com and joined mommy groups. I attend playdates and mommydates from those groups. -
As an expectant mom and living in a new city, I went out of my way to find a new mommy group. They have been very accepting of an expectant mommy! There are lots of groups out there!
