I was a web producer before having a baby and staying at home.. Swore up and down that when I went back to work I'd do something different and fun. I'm now... A web producer!! Haha. But I'm a contractor working in house rather than an agency and it's made a big difference.

@winniebee: I'm a lawyer hoping to get pregnant soon. Will you go back to work eventually?

I have a bachelor's in Education with minors in English and History. I'm hoping to get a private/Christian school teaching job when our kids are school-aged so I don't have to worry about licensure and renewals.

@MrsMcD: I think eventually part time. I worked until my son was 13 months then we moved and it is only for a year. Moving back east in a few months and will likely get admitted in the new state and look for work after baby #2 (TTC for baby 2 right now).

Lawyer and I think I have the same plan as Winniebee Although we are not yet TTC for number two!

I worked in museums and galleries, managing art collections. Most recently, I was the registrar for a provincial art collection (Canadian!).

I was a journalist, originally working at a daily newspaper then freelancing for national newspapers and websites. I think I'll retrain as a primary school teacher.

@MrsMcD: @Mammabare: what type of lawyer? I am a civil litigator.

I was a vice president for a fortune 500 telecommunications company.
I'm a doula now though and also make baby carriers for extra income.

I was also a lawyer but doubt I practice again. Now I just need to figure out plan b!

@winniebee: @MrsMcD: @Mammabare: @Zbug: another lawyer turned SAHM. My LO is almost 2.5 years old and I've been a SAHM since she was born...I can't believe it's been that long! I"m pregnant with baby #2 and plan to be a SAHM at least until the kids are in pre-K. I'm keeping my license active, but doubt I'll return to private practice. I may do contract work of some kind, but do not plan to ever go back to working at firm full time. Like @Zbug I'd like to figure out Plan B and find something with a flexible schedule that I love

Like @travelgirl1, was a journalist at a daily newspaper, followed by a communications/marketing job. Now I freelance while I SAHM.

I was in special education, and loved it. I plan to return, but am looking to buff up my credentials to obtain an administrative/program head position.

I was a marketing manager for the Princeton Review.
I left that job shortly before becoming pregnant, and worked part time as an English instructor during my pregnancy, but that was part time so I don't think of it as having been my last career job.

I'm a teacher counting down the days until LO arrives. Excited about being a SAHM for a while.

I was a civil engineer. I'm not sure if I'll go back to it or do something else.

I had a very brief career on the Hill, quit to find another job and found out I was pregnant 3 weeks later. Knew I would be a SAHM, so just earned income from odd jobs until LO was born.

I am/was a school psychologist. Being a SAHM is just so much better

I was in public relations for a large hospital network. Very busy, very stressful, sometimes fun... but I was happy to leave. I do a bit of freelance work for them still, but I get to take on projects that I want while I SAH.

I am a school social worker however, I am pursuing a double (Master's then Ph.D) program right now in order to graduate with a Ph.D and specialization in Adolescent Trauma Treatment.
I'd like to work in the field until LOs are maybe in high school or graduating, and then I hope to teach in a university until retirement.
eta: In Michigan at least, I couldn't work in a school without a Master's anyway, despite having my BS in social work, with a certification in school social work. It is worthless without a MA.

@winniebee same! Was working as a legal services attorney prior to my son's birth.

I worked as a volunteer coordinator at a nonprofit. I just started working 8 hours a week, which is an awesome balance now that C is a little older (22 months)

Prior to kids I was a nanny, but if I were to use my degree I would be a medical assistant.

I was a child protection social worker and then a middle school teacher before becoming a SAHM.
I do plan on going back to work in a couple of years and it will most likely be social work again. Two years of teaching middle school in an extremely rough neighbourhood in Chicago has scarred me for life I think!
