all socks go to heaven? Where are they going? My son's sock drawer is full of mismatched socks. I have pulled out the dryer, searched the couch etc to no avail. It's not like he loses them while wearing, they get lost in the laundry and I cannot, for the life of me, figure out where. Should I just accept this as a "parenting hazard" and get over it?

This has gotten so much worse in my house just in the last month or so... Maybe because we're bad about putting away our laundry???

I think so. I lose so many socks. I often find them tucked inside other clothing/laundry, though (like, inside footed pajamas or something.) I really have no idea where they go.

I have found my son's socks inside my husband's clothes a lot - I think his slacks and wicking shirts have more static and they cling to them. I also found them inside the boot seal (the rubber ring) if our front loading HE washer - that was gross because they were all wet and I have no idea how long they were in there. I also recently found some in my underwear drawer so I guess they cling to my bras or underwear too. I have been trying to move to plain white socks for DS, although I'm a sucker for cute socks and I guess I could use a small lingerie mesh bag if I really cared too much. I've noticed the kids socks with some anti-slip rubber writing on the bottoms of the feet don't cling nearly as much and because it makes the socks a little heavier I find them easier. We've had fewer socks go missing that way.

I lost one of my son's cute bear booties about two months ago. It's in the house somewhere and I cannot let it go! Hahaha. I can't find it anywhereeeeee.

I highly suggest washing infant/toddler socks in a mesh lingerie bag. I zip it up, wash and dry the laundry and all I have to do is unzip it and match them. No lost socks!

@simplyfelicity: we don't even try very hard to match her socks anymore. Yesterday she work a navy blue on one foot and a pink stripe on the other.

Yeah, I usually find them days or weeks or even months later folded into other clothes they clung to, trapped in pillow cases or pockets of fitted sheets, etc.because I tend to dump everything into the dryer together!

My problem is they take off their socks the second we get home. Then they're everywhere and the sock gnomes steal them.

I second the mesh bag. Before I started that we kept losing so many socks! I keep a mesh bag clipped onto each of the kids hampers.

I put mine in a mesh lingerie bag but they are safety pinned in pairs so no lost socks and no pairing.

Yes, especially since when dh brings her home from daycare he just takes them off and leaves them in the living room.

I just buy multipacks of the same or similar socks, I hate trying to match socks!

They might be getting sucked into the dryer intake - my friend's dryer stopped working and when the repair guy came he found a giant bunch of baby socks in there.

Holy shit guys. I was taking clothes out of the washer when I saw a peek of pink between the inner metal rim and the rubber ring - it was a long lost sock! So I pulled the rubber ring back and LOOK!! 14 lone socks in all!

My son and I always wear mismatched socks!!
I get the old navy triple roll. So same style, but he usually has two different colours on. And I buy them more often than I would have thought was necessary! Lol. My dog eats them sometimes too...
