On the weekends, I normally wear yoga pants, running clothes, and in the summer, athletic skirts, and dresses. For work, I like ankle pants, khakis, pencil skirts, cardigans,A-line skirts and dresses.

ETA: my non-pregnant summer uniform for work.

I feel like you can't go wrong with a basic tee and scarf... you can mix and match, or dress it up if necessary.

ETA: Here are two pictures, but my advice was pretty straightforward, so they're probably not necessary.

I wear mostly skinny pants with a variety of tops: fitted teea or flowy tops. I also love leggings with shorter dresses. I feel like an outfit really hinges on accessories (scarves, jewlery, shoes, hairstyle) and color palette. It's cheaper to start with a basic silhouette and add on from there in little ways. I shop at really cheap places: Kohls, Target, Old Navy, H&M, but sometimes "splurge" at Loft, Gap, or local boutiques.

@raspberries: This is pretty much the top half of my wardrobe lately, I don't know how I didn't discover the magic of scarves earlier in life!

There are some Etsy artists who make stunning digitally printed scarfs. I feel like it's a way to dress artistically/originally and with lots of color, but super easy because everything else in the outfit can be super simple.

This post is really inspiring me to get more scarves. I always feel a bit creepy but there is one mom in a toddler class we go to who is always dressed nice but casual and comfortable- basically how I want to dress but end up in yoga pants. She wears a lot of jeans (skinny or boyfriend), striped tops that aren't tight but also aren't really flowy, and scarves. And shoes like toms or something.

My style is old yoga pants, nursing tank tops, and worn out zip up hoodies. Not so hot. But no real pants really fit at this point...( and baby is 4 months old).

Check out puttingmetogether.com! My style is pretty similar to the blogger's. I like that it's very attainable/common but she teachers you how to combo better outfits and how to dress up/down.

I’m in my mid-30’s:

Casual/weekend wear: skinny jeans or skinny pants with layered tops (tank + henley, tank + long cardigan sweater), some tunic tops. Lots of casual dresses (both short and maxi), and lots of retro/vintage dresses (some real vintage some Modcloth new-vintage look). Shoes: ankle booties, boots, ballet flats and wedge heels mostly.

Professional: I wear dresses 90% of the time, mostly sheath dresses but also some fit and flare. Also pencil skirts with button-down shirts. I wear pumps almost exclusively at work, sometimes boots or ankle booties on Fridays.

I shop at: Nordstrom (and Nordstrom Rack), Modcloth, BR, Loft mostly.

@looch: Sometimes – but always with a cardigan or jacket. I’ll take off the jacket in my office if it’s hot, but I’ll always throw it on when walking around work. I’ll do the same with cap sleeves too.

Our office is rarely really warm/hot so I try to buy dresses with ¾ or full sleeves since I can wear them year round.

Here are a couple of actual work dresses I own - and the style/cut I usually wear.

@looch: I usually try to stock up on new work dresses in fall and winter because I notice that they usually have more sleeve options available then, where now most of what I see in the stores is sleeveless for summer. Those were/are from Nordstrom, which is where I find most of my professional clothes. The middle one is Betsy Johnson, and I’ve found some long sleeve sheaths of hers I like just straight from her site. I also like many of the Calvin Klein dresses you can find at Macy’s (though most of those are cap sleeve or sleeveless, the ones that I have at least).

@yoursilverlining: Oops, just saw our posts crossed paths. I will check out Betsy Johnson when I need a new base piece for work, I don't think I've ever tried them before....

@raspberries: a+ to this recommendation, grabbed this for work and I love it. Idk how it'll work for summer but every other season

Stripes are really hot right now so I would invest in some drapey and some fitted striped tees and tanks for the summer. Because they're also classic.
I also love oversized and waterfall cardigans a lot. They're just a touch more updated than a traditional button cardigan. Bonus if they have a fun detail like fringe.
Crop skinny jeans always (crop on me is ankle because I have short legs). Dark blue, light blue, black and white.
Distressed skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans.
I love drapey but still sort of clingy t-shirts and cut-offs for summer.

And another great option instead of cardigans are denim jackets and leather jackets. You can find some great "vegan" leather jackets that are more price conscious. Both options are great for spring and work really well with a black or white Jean.

@looch: LOVE!!! It took a few wears to break them in on my feet (they rubbed in a weird place on the back of my heel - but I just had to get used to it). So comfy and I get so many compliments! Perfect with black, neutrals and colors. So versatile!

@looch: Hose are something I haven’t really figured out/decided on. I wear tights all winter, but then it comes the point in the year when I need to ditch them. I usually go bare legged. I like Hue brand hose – I also love their tights, leggings and jeggings.

I only figured out the seasons/sleeves like 1 year ago myself!

@yoursilverlining: Yeah, yesterday was raining in the morning, for example, so i pulled on a pair of black tights and i just felt out of season, but i was cold in the morning on my commute.

I dunno what to do, lol. I feel like hose has a bad rap, and it does if you're wearing suntan color, but I feel like if i find the right shade, no one will know...or they'll secretly call me an old lady.

@pwnstar: You're right! I read a blog about her style and one post was about her favorite mass market hose (or at least what they think are the hose she uses).

I feel like no one should be getting that up close and personal to my legs, but they're not as imperfection free as they used to be.

@lamariniere: I like the idea of more summer dresses. It's really not too hard to wear them and you feel so much more put together!
