Ok - so my dear sister is due with her first baby on Christmas!!! My mom, sister and I are hosting her shower on October 12th. I am kind of supposed to spearhead the shower planning - but am due any day now - so I am trying to get as much done/planned in advance of our own special arrival.

My sister is not one to love being the center of attention - so I am steering clear of the "guess how big the bump is" type games and what not. We'll have a decent amount of time committed for the seated luncheon and gift opening - so we dont need too much. I was thinking just some mingling type activities for when guests first arrive. Here is what I have come up with:

1)Create your own stations: Buy an assortment of plain headbands, bibs, burp clothes (aka cloth diapers) and encourage guests to 'decorate' them for the mom to be. I thought I could get a lot or two of misc ribbon off etsy along with some appliques, cute bows, embellishments. Guests can affix them with safety pins - then I can have our grandma sew/hot glue gun them in place after the shower. (note: we are not doing onsies here because we have plans to decorate with cutesied up onsies). I think we'll also have them sign a tag so she'll know who made each.

2) Baby Shower Price is Right: Have a few clusters of common baby toiletries (relating to: 1) diaper changing 2) bathing 3) diaper bag essentials) and requests guests to guess the price of the cluster. Closest one wins a small gift.

3) Diaper Love Notes: Have each guest write a message on a solid white label which is then affixed to a diaper tushy. This way as my sister and BIL change diapers they can have some mixed in with cute messages on them.

I liked these ideas because 1) they are fun and low stress 2) they leave you with awesome practical gifts for the mom-to-be and 3) they are relative quick as the materials will all be prepped!

Thoughts/Opinions?

Have you 'played' these at a shower? How were they received?
