When did your LO start sitting unassisted? I read around 6 mths is average. My lo can sit like a tripod and can sit unassisted for a couple of seconds before she topples over.

I think around 6 months sounds just about right. My LO is 5 months and sits tripod for awhile and can sit hands free for a few seconds before toppling over.

Um 5-5.5 months? Right around there. She is 6.5 months and can sit without tripoding now and for long periods of time.

At 5 months he was sitting in a tripod for about 10 seconds at a time. At 5.5 months he could sit for over a minute. Then at 6 months it was 10-15 minutes totally unassisted. Now at 7.5 months he can sit for 30+ minutes at a time.

charlie could sit completely unassisted (no tripod) at 7 months. olive was older... maybe 9 months, but she was born 5 weeks early and has been a little behind with physical milestones.

Chloe was around 5 months when she could sit unassisted for a short period of time, but closer to 6-7 months when she could get herself in a sitting position and stay there herself.

I feel like we're behind on this. LO is 5 months, but won't do the tripod. She won't sit still long enough! How do I get her to practice this? If it makes a difference, she is very strong and can sit up for a few seconds if she has something around her (pillows, Boppy, etc).
