Hello,

I have questions and need advice about sleep for my almost 12 week old baby. Her pediatrician has not been helpful, I already asked him. I am a first time mom and am clueless about what I should be doing about sleep and naps.

I know I cant expect her to follow a strict schedule (sleeping at specific times) but wonder when the bedtime routine should start. I also wonder how many hours of daytime and nighttime sleep she should be getting. Is there a certain ammount of naps she should get? What does your schedule look like?

Right now she usually falls asleep for the night anywhere from 8 to 9:30. She will wake up to get fed and changed either once or twice, and will get up in the morning around 6:30.

For naps, she is all over the place. Sometimes she will take 3 long naps and seem like she sleeps most of the day, and other days she will take 2 or 3 short 30min to 1 hour naps. Her naps do not seem to have any effect on her night sleep.

For naps she is in her rock and play in the living room with me. At night she falls asleep in the rock and play in the living room and I transfer her to the bassinet in our room when we go to bed. At what point should I have her nap by herself in the room?

I see some people saying they put their baby down for bed for the night at 6:30 or 7 and have a regular nap schedule. I am womdering if im doing things all wrong. I dont want to create any bad habits.

I looked at a few books, but they all seem like they are from someone trying to convince someone of some "method" to acomplish something. I just want to make sure my daugter is healthy and getting enough sleep. Thank you for getting through this long post!
