What do you do when you wake up at odd times knowing you really won't get back to sleep?
Before pregnancy I'd do something fun, then read 'till I can fall asleep.

Stay in bed and hope to fall back asleep. Usually it'll take a few hours, but eventually I will.

Read or look at stuff on the Internet using my smartphone. Usually it is the smartphone option, as it is the easiest to get while I'm laying in bed.

I have a cat, so I'll poke her until she wakes up (usually she's sleeping by my legs) then I'll pet her until I fall asleep. Works great for me and I assume she enjoys the attention before taking another 14-hour cat "nap".

I usually get up and get on Hellobee.... but it doesn't last long because NO ONE uses this site late at night!
Sometimes I eat too. I have been getting super hungry in the middle of the night lately.

LOL. Everyone stays in bed! I mean real insomnia. I have found that if I'm laying in bed awake for more than a sleep cycle, then I have issues sleeping the next night, too.
I only stay in bed if it's likely I may fall back asleep.
With the pregnancy, I have to sit up for the burning hands to fade away, so I have to get up. Mostly (now) I just sit in the den and stare out the window. Good thing there are pretty trees!

@Goldilocks1107: haha, I do the same. My cat sometimes gives me an annoyed look, but then she starts purring - so she must not mind it too much

I stay in bed and try to fall back to sleep. If it's taking a long time I'll start huffing and puffing so as to wake up the hubs so he'll snuggle me and help me fall back to sleep : )

I stay in bed in denial and huff and puff and toss and turn until I fall back asleep : )

I never get out of bed. DH goes to the couch when he can't sleep, and apparently the "change of scenery" helps him fall back asleep. However, it drives me crazy to wake up in the middle of the night and he's totally gone. Arg! Because then I feel like I need to go find him wherever he is in the house and make sure he is okay.
