I put her in on the lowest speed starting at 2 weeks or so and it was fine! It seems Fast but I also swing her left to right to soothe her relatively fast (I swivel my top half at the hip).
ETA - she was 8 lbs by that point. I didn't use it earlier because I never put her down lol

I haven't put ours together yet, but we watched the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD last night and he seemed to prefer the fast speed in swings. Took me by surprise as well...

We also thought it was waaaaay too fast at first for our LO. He hated it at first. Once he was about 4-5 weeks though I put him in it at 1-2 speed and he's stayed at that speed ever since (now 10.5 weeks). I still have to put a blanket over his arms & tuck him in or else his startle reflex kicks in when it swings and he wakes up.

We bought the Snugabunny because of the fast speed. Like TidyBee, we watched the Happiest Baby on the Block and he recommended fast swings. Baby isn't here yet, so I can't tell you how well it works but the reviews on Amazon are pretty positive!

I really only use it up to the 3rd notch. It'll slow down a little once there's weight in it too.

It does seem really fast, especially at first! When LO was a newborn we would put it on 2. As he got bigger and the swing got more use it slowed down a lot! We are still using it 6 months later but it's not near as fast! I have heard the motor goes out on them easily.. Maybe ours is nearing?

Haha we thought the same thing, they love it though. I usually had it set on a medium speed.

@mrsaudi: try calling fisher price! i have heard they will send you a replacement motor. i dealt with them recently for the rock and play and they were AWESOME - didn't ask for any proof of the problem, just asked me to send a part of the item and they shipped me a brand new one.

At first we only put it on the 3rd speed but I read in the Happiest Baby on the Block it's ok to put it on the highest speed and babies actually prefer it. Once we put it on the highest speed, my LO would take longggg naps in it - it was great since he wasn't a great crib napper at that point. Now that he's 4 months old, we put it back on the 2nd or 3rd speed and he's pretty content with that.

It does seem really fast at first, but once your LO is a bit bigger, it won't. We were putting it on the highest once LO was 4 months and wished it went even faster!

We're at full speed now and it moves very little. Try putting a couple of very heavy books in it and see the difference! As baby gets heavier, the swing slows down!
