I've been laid off. And I quit when I had my LO and twice because of school.

Never been fired and I have quit a job.

My boss turned out to be a a$$. Did not agree with his business practice, the firm was going down the drain, all the PMs were leaving and gave me a heads up. So I started looking and quit when I found a new job.

I quit my last job because my boss was unreasonable, wouldn't accomodate for me being pregnant at all, and I had tension headaches 4-6 times a week.

Other jobs I've left due to moving out of the area or having a better opportunity elsewhere.

Never been fired, but have quit jobs. My first job out of college was awful and I stayed way too long, so when I finally got a new job it was awesome to quit. Then I quit to move to a new city to be with DH (then boyfriend).

I've quit jobs before... most recently to be a SAHM.

I quit to start a company.

I've never been fired or laid off (I think that's pretty amazing considering I worked on Wall Street and there were many reductions in staff).

I've quit, but that was to stay at home, not to go to another job.

Never been fired, but I have been laid off. I was laid off as a result of the tourism drop NYC experienced after 9/11 when I worked at the Museum of Natural History.

I've only quit to move on to another position at higher pay.

Never been fired, and never have quit because I was unhappy. I work only part time now because I am in grad school, and will leave this job when I graduate & move somewhere to start my real career. This has been the case with all jobs I have had, that I have left because I was moving onto a new life stage.

I quit my first job out of college (where I met DH), it was 100% commission sales job in a private investment firm. Cut my losses after six months!

I've quit to move on to better opportunities. I am in my first "career" job and have been for a bit over a year. The other jobs I had quite were part time type of jobs or summer jobs when I was going back to school.

When I was 16 I worked at a clothing store in a mall. I was supposed to start one day at 2pm. I was at the mall with my Grandma shopping for my birthday that day, and they called at noon and said "can you come in early?" I said, sorry but I can't today.. I will be there at 2. My boss then called and said "you know what, if you can't get here early, don't bother coming at all. Come back in next week and tell me if you still want this job!" I quit the next week. So i am not sure if that is being fired or quitting.. BUT up until that point I had awesome reviews and worked my butt off there, so I don't count it as being fired. My boss was a drug addict and a bit off the wall, so I don't know what he was on that day!
Sorry for the long post --- it still bugs me 8 years later!!!

I worked at an upscale salon and day spa straight out of college. I started off as the Spa Manager and got promoted 3 months later to Front Desk Manager. I stayed a total of 6 or 7 months and hated every minute of it, so I quit even though I had no job lined up next...

Never been fired, but to advance my career I've quit many jobs. Through my 20's I switched about every two years, each time for a big jump in salary

I've quit a few jobs, but mostly summer jobs and stuff. I've only quit one "career" job. It was what I thought would be my dream job - a social worker at a pediatric hospital that specializes in spinal cord injuries. But my boss was HORRIBLE, so I ended up quitting after about 11 months.

Never been fired but I quit 2 jobs. Each time I had another job lined up already.

I've never been fired, but I have quit jobs before:

High school/college job at a sub shop: Quit after graduation
1st job out of college: I worked in retail in loss prevention. It paid really great, but I never felt safe at work (it was my job to apprehend shoplifting suspects, and I worked in a not-so-nice part of town). Plus, it had nothing to do with my degree (which is in accounting).

I ALMOST quit at one of my college internships. I worked for a regional public accounting firm. I hated every minute of it. The people I worked with encouraged what I viewed as unhealthy competition. For any accountants out there, you know that busy season is just that - busy. But there were contests of who could bill out the most hours. I swear, some of the people at the firm must have never went home and just slept in their cubicles/offices...lol. I stuck it out though just to get my credit, since it was temporary (10 week internship). But, I did cry everyday in the bathroom. lol.

I quit though I probably would have been fired if I hadn't quit. They weren't exactly thrilled about me being pregnant. The woman who came to work after me also was pregnant though they didn't know it when they hired her (big joke on my boss) but once she told them she didn't take the many hints they give to quit so she was fired, then rehired (since it was getting a bit obvious of their opinion on pregnancy) and well that saga is still playing out.

Yep I've been fired and quit a couple jobs.

I have "quit" several jobs. But only one was because I really didn't like the job (2 weeks). Most of them were due to me outgrowing the position and moving on to something new. I was always there at least 3 years though, and my managers became BIG pains when I decided to move on.

I have only been fired once, for no call no show. I put in notice 6mths, 3 mths, 1mth, a 2 weeks in advance that I could not work while my parents were out of town. He also knew that if I asked for time off, I didn't look at the schedule. Turns out he did it on purpose because I got another job at the YMCA for day camp counselor (I was planning on working both jobs, and he knew it), and he wanted to promote me to team lead/manager. So he thought he was doing me a favor. To this day he still jokes with me about it when I see him and always gave outstanding reviews even though he fired me.

Never been fired.
- I quit my first job (hostess) because it was horrible and my boss made me cry. I was 16 and only there for about 2 months.
- I quit my next job (at another restaurant) to work for my first home builder. I didn't want to work in the service industry forever and I was afraid I would if I stayed. (I eventually ended up getting laid off from home builder #1 b/c the company sold)
- I quite home builder #2 for a better opportunity, higher pay, more growth at h/b #3. Then in '08 #3 went under.
- I quit my last job to come here because I hated my job with a passion there, and this opportunity landed in my lap just in the nick of time. I was there from '08-'11 with a 6 week layoff in the middle (they rehired me).
