I have an ipod docking station. Its a clock and nightlight also and I can create any play list I want on the ipod. We downloaded white noise tracks and play them on fepeat. I love that it can be used for other music too and it is great when we travel.

We use an old Kindle Fire and keep the app running all night.

We have a Marpac, but we are currently running an air purifier.

I've let DD listen to classical music all night long through our iPod/iPhone docking station ever since she was a newborn. You still have your old iPhone right? I can burn you some great classical music CDs to load into your iTunes and transfer it to your iPhone.

We also have one that plugs into the wall. It's on all night very night

We use an iPod dock with a radio and just put the radio on static all night. We hardly ever use it with the iPod. Then we can use any radio static when we travel.

Since lo is in our room, I now have trouble sleeping without it. I don't run the projector all night anymore, but sometimes when I'm by myself I do.

We have a munchkin one from amazon that is amazing! White noise, or other sounds, volume control, projects pictures if you want, can use a timer or run all night, has a nightlight, etc. affordable too!

Another marpac lover! We also bought a cheaper as seen on tv version from bed bath beyond for my parents place.

Im not worried about ds being tied to the sound machine. Dh forgkt to turn it on the kther nt n it didn't affect his sleep at all. It's moreso for us to drown out kur noise.and in the futurr ehen we decide ttc lo2!

@Pepper: We have the MyBaby Sound Spa too! We love it, we never turn it off, even during the day. I forget it's on. A friend came over a couple weeks ago and was freaking out trying to figure out why there was a heartbeat sound in J's room HAHA! I don't even notice it anymore. I like it because:
-It doesn't have a time limit
-Different sound options (we tried each of them, the heartbeat seemed to do the trick)
-Projection can be on or off, although it does have a "mobile" feel in that it projects an image on the cieling and rotates but the rotation doesn't work on ours anymore, not a deal breaker if you as me though!
-We can easily pack it up to MIL's if we go away for the weekend

Looks like you have plenty of suggestions already, butI just wanted to chime in and say that we literally never turn ours off! It's just soft white noise that keeps any nighttime noises from disturbing L and helps him fall back asleep if he does wake up at night. I don't think the dark is a factor at such a young age, but I usually keep a nightlight on too because if I need to peek at him or sneak in his room for something, I need to be able to see without having a sudden light waking him up!

We have the homedics one too and love it. We have the whale one. You can either set a timer for 15, 30, or 60 min (I think those are the times anyway) or just let the sound and/or projection run all night. We play the waves all night and have since lo was about five months I think. That was a year ago! I saw that thing on zulily for $15 recently and I think that's about what we paid at target for it, maybe we paid a little more.
