How would you spell the name Brooklyn?

or two separate names - Brook Lynne/Lynn/Lyn
So I love the name, love it. And the nn Brooke is soooo cute. My moms mn is Lynne so I'd love to honor her if we ever chose that name - but I know Brooklynne is a super uncommon spelling so I'm not sure I'd want to do that..
How would you spell this name? could I get away with the Lynne spelling?

i would spell it brooklyn, but you have a special reason for spelling it brooklynne (not that you need a special reason for spelling your own LO's name a particular way besides just liking it!).

I love this name, too - I know a 2-year old Brooklyn and she's adorable.
I think I'd still use "Brooklyn", traditional spelling.

I may be able to see Brooke Lynne as two first names because of your family connection, but agree with @MrsTiz: that anything way from the traditional spelling is asking too much since it is the name of a place everyone is aware of.

I like brooklyn, unless you want to be super obvious that it's for a female, then i'd go with brooklynn.

If you're going to do one name, I'd use the correct spelling (I may be a little biased since I'm from Brooklyn). I'd only do Lynne if you were doing two separate names, Brook Lynne.

I think spelling Brooklyn like the city is enough of a homage to your middle name. I love the name Brooklyn too!

I'm going to be out of the ordinary, and I actually like the 2 separate names way! Given the background (your mom's middle name being Lynne) I really like that way! Plus you said you loved the nn of Brooke, why not just have that as a whole name??

I personally would go with Brooklyn, but because of your mom I voted for Brooklynne. So many people are making up spellings these days that I think wanting it to be spelled "right" is becoming less and less of an issue. When there are this many people on the planet, finding a name that's even remotely unique is pretty much impossible, so I say go for the spelling that has meaning for your family.

DO NOT LIKE the other choices. Brooklyn. That's how you spell the city name. If you're going to represent it, do it properly.

@MrsBrewer: Yeah I was thinking of that too - I actually like the way my mom's middle name is spelled, I feel it's very feminine and classy. Since I like the name Brooke so much I'd be willing to do it like that.
@Mrs. J: no one spells my name right either and I totally don't care because I love my name so much and love that I have a "different" name.

@Mrs. J: yesss. Super common name spelled just one letter different = guaranteed having to spell out your name for the rest of your life, never getting anything from Disneyland with your name on it, constantly correcting people, etc.
Trust me, it's not worth it lol!

I like Brooke Lynne. I really like Brooke AND Lynne, and I confess am not a huge fan of Brooklyn as a person's name. But since you like it, I think this has the effect while giving your daughter many options for the future, KWIM?

@MrsTiz: mine is like yours with the "i" and the "t" switched from yours, but my friend is with a "c" and an "i", and I know several other spellings too!

I'd spell it "correctly" unless you were doing two names (like Mary Anne)-- my husband's cousin is named Brooke-Lynn.

I guess I'm in the minority but my name is spelled wrong nearly every time and I couldn't care less. Only mispronouncing it bothers me. I say do what you want. It isn't a conventional name anyway, so spell it however you like!

I was torn on this one and voted for the one with 2 n's. Normally I would pick the most conventional spelling, but since it is for a girl name, I think a double N feminizes it.
Incidentally, I have a friend who just gave birth last week and named her daughter Brooke. She is originally from Brooklyn, which I imagine inspired the name.
