My parents moved away from their parents when my brother was born. My mom's parents ended up following them down here to be close to the grandkids. My dad's parents stayed put and then ended up moving to FL, but not the same part so they were still a 4 hour drive.
We wanted to stay here because both of our parents live here. But so far LO is the only grandchild on my side so I wouldn't be surprised if my parents followed us wherever we decided to go.

I moved around a lot after college for various jobs. I actually moved back to MD for a year or so and that is when they decided to move south! I later found a job in a town just 2 1/2 hrs from where they were, so that worked out well.
His parents moved away when he was in college, I think?

My parents moved to Texas for my dad's job when I was a freshman in college. They say they'd like to move back to Illinois (especially when my sister and I have kids) but I don't know if it will actually happen until my dad retires.

My husband moved west when he finished school, but then his parents moved from the mid-west to the south when they retired.
My parents still live in the tiny town I grew up in, I moved to a college town, then as everyone does, I got sucked into the vortex of Phoenix for work.

My parents live in the same small town where my grandparents and great-grandparents lived. I moved away and I don't think I'd move back, even to be close to them. Just not enough job opportunities there.

My husband moved around a lot for his job when he got out of college. He met me in GA and together we moved to TX when he got a new job 4 years ago.

DH and his family all live in the same city. My parents moved away because they hate the south. So, we're moving up north because I've always planned to move up north to be close to my parents and just like it more. Doubt DH family would make that trek when they retire in a few yrs b/c they don't like change. Instead they're trying to convince me not to want to move.

we're a lot closer to family now but for years, we were away because of hubby's job. i think if i moved to texas, i would have gotten my parents to come down eventually since cost of living is so much cheaper. but alas, we'll be in jersey so it's just as expensive as ny.

My husband & I live about 3 hours from my parents & I moved away first for college (about 1 hour) & then after we were engaged & working we moved where we live now.

We moved abroad because of DH's work, so we're the ones that moved away from everyone. But even before that, we lived pretty far away from our parents....DH and I lived in Chicago, while all our parents lived in different states on the west coast.

My parents moved away from me! I always joke that I stuck with them for 28 years and they finally had to move themselves to get away from me. Haha. I'm not too crazy attached to them, I'm just really obedient... they never wanted me to move from them so I didn't. I think they expected me to follow them when they finally moved, but I was already married by then.
Wagon Sr. moved away from his family.. to be with me... if we never got together he'd STILL be living in his mom's basement, I guarantee it!

I moved away from my family. They won't ever leave my hometown. They've been there their entire lives.

We moved away from both sets of our parents for my job. We're moving again in the fall, which will bring us quite a bit closer to home, but still quite far away -- (halfway across the country instead of all the way).
