I am just about 5 weeks pregnant, but saw some red spotting today after my yoga class. Could this be a chemical pregnancy if i end up having a regular period? When should i be worried?

Spotting can be very normal it can also be a problem. I think you should worry when you get worried. I find it is worth the copay to talk to the doctor if I am worried. I even went to the ER once when I was pregnant.
Good Luck

It never hurts to call your OB, but it's also very common to have spotting in your first tri. That doesn't mean it isn't scary! If you have any cramping or it's heavy enough to fill a pad, definitely call your doctor.

@brownie: @spaniellove: My OB's office isn't open until Friday. If i end up having what feels like a regular period, should i just chalk it up to it being a chemical pregnancy? I am naturally a worrywart. I never had any spotting in my last pregnancy and the only time i did it was a missed miscarriage.

@Freckles: What about an urgent care center or the ER? Just because you're bleeding doesn't mean you're necessarily having a chemical pregnancy. You could be having implantation bleeding still, and a doctor can check your levels to make sure everything is fine.

@spaniellove: I'll see how things progress today. Thank you - your words make me feel a little less dumb for considering going to ER!

Why not call your office and leave a message for the on-call doctor? That's what they're there for...

I concur-it can be very normal during pregnancy, especially if you had just done exercise. But I wouldn't hesitate to call the on-call doc. That is what they're there for! I hope everything is OK!

Definitely don't hesitate to visit the ER/urgent care for peace of mind if you can't see your doctor. I had pretty severe looking bleeding at weeks 6 and 12 of my pregnancy with my now 18 month old daughter and was like you - terrified and assumed the worst. The second time I had to go to the hospital to get checked out bc it was NYE. I expected the staff to be irritated with me but they were incredibly patient and understanding.
Hoping for the best for you!

My CP was bleeding immediately ... Not spotting. I also had cramps. Spotting can be totally normal (your cervix is changing & you're full of hormones). Best wishes ... Thinking of you!

Not to scare you, but spotting like that happened to me right before my mc at about as far along as you are.
I would check it out just to be sure.

@Crystal: so I am pretty sure I have my period now. Did you end up getting checked out? @Vegmama: @PinkElephant: @locavore_mama: thanks ladies but I think it is another chemical pregnancy

@Freckles: I did go, because I freaked out. It took 2 weeks for my levels to drop and my "period" to start, so I had to go in for blood tests weekly to check and make sure the levels were still dropping. The doctor also did an exam to make sure my cervix was opening and it wasn't ectopic.
I am so so so sorry. I'm here if you need to talk. I just went through one after a long time of trying, so I understand how difficult it can be.

@Freckles: I'm so sorry. If you decide not to go to the ER you may want to at least go to your OB when they open on Friday. I'm so sorry this is happening to you.
