I'm 9 weeks and while wiping this morning I'm seeing like a brownish red-tinged discharge. It's super light but I'm still freaking out. Should I call my doctor? Do nothing? It's my third pregnancy but I've never had this happen.

Did you DTD recently? Or have a tough BM? From what I've heard this can be totally normal, especially after one of those things.

This happened with both pregnancies for me. Call for reassurance. I was put on pelvic rest.

@knittylady: nope! My dr visit was wed so not even that was recent enough.

When is the last time you had an ultrasound? I'd call and ask for one tomorrow. For me, spotting in pregnancy has never turned out well. However, I know MANY people who have had spotting and all turned out just fine.

I've had spotting with 2 of my 3 pregnancies and both times it was completely fine. With my second pregnancy, I had spotting off and on for 3 weeks and they did a few ultrasounds and could never determine why but she is a happy 2.5 year old today. Hope your spotting turns out just fine.

I had some at 7 weeks with this (my third as well) pregnancy. My doctor did an ultrasound and bloodwork then put me on progesterone supplements. I'm 26 weeks now.

@matador84: Was your ultrasound on Wednesday transvaginal? I've been told that can also cause spotting.

I had several issues of light spotting (often looked like pink or brown mucus) in my current pregnancy, but never spotted with my first. I never called because it always stopped after a couple hours. It was always extremely light and usually happened after busy days (like I had a dime to quarter sized amount of brownish pink spotting after taking DS trick or treating). I found out at 12 weeks I had a certain type of cells on my cervix that could cause spotting when irritated (I can't remember the name, but my doctor wasn't really concerned). I then found out at 20 weeks that my placenta was low lying (only 1.5 cms from my cervix), which could be a reason for the cells and spotting. I'm almost 25 weeks and haven't had any issues with spotting since the first trimester.

I had spotting at 6-7 weeks with this pregnancy. I freaked out, but it ended up being a small SCH and it resolved by 11 weeks. I'm 29 weeks now. Hope everything turns out okay for you, too!

I also spotted with my last pregnancy and it was a small SCH, which went away on its own a few weeks later.

I had bleeding for two reasons: a twin that didn't grow, and a SCH. I spotted on and off (mostly brownish) until into the second trimester.

I've had spotting a few days after a TV ultrasound, after DTD, and after yoga. My doctor always wants to know.

@matador84: I'd call to see if you can discuss your ultrasound results/ talk to your doctor to feel better. Especially if you haven't had any yet this pregnancy and it isn't a result of recent sex or a transvaginal ultrasound.
I had an ultrasound at 6+5 and asked my doctor about the results a week later when I saw him and he said there was a small sch. I had spotting 4-5 weeks, 7 weeks, and a bit at like 8.5. Since then nothing and I assume the hematoma is gone because it wasn't mentioned after my 13 week ultrasound. It was minimal spotting for me, but still hard to see often and worrying for me.
Good luck.

@matador84: I've had similar spotting in my first pregnancy with my LO, and with my current one that is now at 20 weeks. It coincided with DTD and/or BM (sorry if TMI). Always alarming but it didn't continue and it was only a tiny amount, otherwise I would have called. As an aside, I never had any spotting with my early MC so I don't always link it with a bad outcome. But I would call for peace of mind

I had a lot of spotting and cramping during my pregnancy. Totally freaked me out. But all was just fine. I found that it was worse if I wasn't drinking enough water or if I was on my feet a lot.

I only had full on bleeding but things turned out fine.
Personalyl I would wait and see if it happens again and then call. In the mean time, drink lots of water and take it easy.

@matador84: I hope this resolves well! For me, spotting has always been a sign of impending M/C, but my friend spotted with all 3 of her perfectly healthy pregnancies. Hopefully your OB will have some advice.

Thinking about you today. I hope the spotting has eased up or you get some affirmation from your OB that everything is okay.

Thanks everyone. There was some pink streaking this morning but not enough to alarm me more than I already am.
If it continues throughout the day, I'll call my doctor but hopefully it is just a weird pregnancy fluke.

@matador84: I had pink spotting caused by a SCH and a UTI. I'd definitely call the doctor just to rule those two out.

@matador84: checking in with you because I didn't see this before. I had similar spotting Monday and Tuesday. I called my doc office just to be safe and they said not to be worried unless it turned into real bleeding or I had any pain (in which case call back for an ultrasound). I'm feeling mostly calm about it because I know it's pretty normal-- but I am suddenly very anxious for my next u/s in 2 weeks!
