Whatcha thinking?
I have no clue. As a fall back I can always just bring green grapes. I thought of baking spinach muffins...but I don't know if the other kids will like it? Maybe cute jello in shamrock cutters?
Any other ideas for 2 year olds?

Ugh do we have to have a party for everything? I hope our daycare skips this one.
I think those are good ideas. Maybe something along the lines of a pot of gold (bowl of goldfish or something)

@T.H.O.U.: just saw a pot of gold idea with carrot coins as the gold!
could also do cheese!
Anything green could work, but I'm partial to traditional Irish stuff since st patty's is my bday and my family is Irish!

@cmomma17: hahah DH is half Irish so we'll be making corned beef & cabbage. We "corn" our own brisket every year. I'm not so sure the other kids will like soda bread though!
@T.H.O.U.: haha I was thinking this too. Oh the pot of gold"fish" is a cute idea! But then I have to buy a little mini pot for each kid?? LOL

@locavore_mama: what about just mini Dixie cups. Like the ones you use for rinsing your mouth in the bathroom.

@locavore_mama: do you want something healthy? I found some spinach quinoa cakes at Costco this weekend that are.... green. Haha!

@T.H.O.U.: I'm over the party for everything too. We've got to bring in white t-shirts for a project at preschool. Another thing she will never wear and I'll throw away.

Irish brown bread? It's like whole wheat soda bread. You could put in some raisins!

@locavore_mama: you don't think kids would like soda bread? I love it - yum! And so many variations. I love apricot! You can serve with yummy jams! Corned beef and cabbage however is something I hated as a child! (Still do, haha)
Did you check weelicious for ideas? I know she has a green Mac n cheese!

What about guacamole or green hummus?
Or rainbow fruit skewers as a play on the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I actually wouldn't even mind a "party activity" but all of thes have a party just to serve them junk food for any random holiday is getting old. Plus it's on top of the random birthdays that get treats sent in.

@T.H.O.U.: ours are at preschool & for parties, we have to sign up to bring something. So, that 12 snacks that range from finger foods to cupcakes to veggies and fruit. SO MUCH FOOD and it's not like its inexpensive to buy or prepare.
It all goes to waste. The kids are so riled up from the party & the parents are busy chasing their kids so we all get sent home with our own food.

@cmomma17: LOL this is for snack time! Honey, I may not be Irish. But coupled with corning our own brisket my guinness corned beef and cabbage is to die for. Yes, I'm patting myself on the back. Haha most restaurant corned beef and cabbage is meh!

I'm so relieved there is no St.. Patty's party at school! I'm partied out.
Rainbow fruit tray or skewers? All green fruits?

@locavore_mama: lol. I know it's snack time. My parents do the corned beef thing but I disappointed them by turning vegetarian

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I always go for a cheap healthy option. Like bananas. I want to try to use bananas as a snack for every holiday. St Pats day I'm sure you could make them rainbows some how.

@deerylou: ooh cute idea! I know daycare is egg & nut free. I usually bake egg free when I make something. I'll have to confirm if anyone in M's class is egg free.

What about a craft, rather than food?
eta: I am going to send home made green play dough and something else, st. patty's themed, not sure what yet.
