Did you buy a stand in ring once your fingers became too swollen to comfortably wear your wedding set?

I'm just about 36 weeks and still wearing my wedding set! I was totally anticipating having to wear a stand in, but haven't experienced any swelling. Knock on wood!

@photojane: lucky! I was such a huge swollen mess by 36 weeks

Yup! Wagon Sr. got a ring made for me actually... it's my "dream ring" made with white topaz stones instead of diamonds, set in white gold.

I won't be able to get a stand in since I'm allergic to all affordable metals.

@highwire: I think it's because I'm a lazy bum. I take tons of naps and sit on my butt as much as possible. I really should take a walk or two. My BP has been pretty low (lower than pre-preg), which I think is why I haven't swollen at all.

@mrs. wagon: Whoa mama! Gorgeous ring! I love emerald cuts!
I went ringless after hitting my third trimester.

I had to retire my rings at 27 weeks. It's sad but I don't know that a stand-in would work for me. I had one after we got engaged for a variety of reasons, but I hated that my finger turned green with the cheapie, lol.

@mrs. wagon: Oh my gosh! I love that! Similar to my original dream ring too! Where is it from and how much may I ask?
I haven't had any issue yet, but I will change over my anniversary ring from my left to right hand if I can't fit my wedding rings anymore. Right hand is bigger so the ring is bigger. But now a stand-in ring sounds fun too!

Nope. I just didnt wear them. I havent gotten to wear them in over a year.

@shopaholic: he had it made! found the stones on ebay and brought them to our jeweler who set them in white gold. Not sure how much it all came out to because the stones themselves were really cheap, but he asked the jeweler to set them in white gold so it wouldn't tarnish. Honestly though I don't wear it often anymore because it makes my actual rings seem so tiny in comparison!

@mrs. wagon: I totally hear you. My birthstone is Topaz and DH originally got me a big solitaire topaz w/halo setting for our anniversary, but I wouldn't wear it b/c it'd make my e-ring look tiny in comparison!

@shopaholic: hehe!! aw, great minds think alike. I'd love to see a pic of that ring (and your e-ring too)!!!

DH never wears the white gold band we got him when we got married, he wears a tungsten ring he bought on ebay because it doens't get dull. I stole his wedding band because it's bigger than mine I was happy to have my band back.

@mrs. wagon: Oh, I exchanged THAT ring quick! I got a diamond anniversary band instead. Their both on my IG if you go backwards enough (or I'll tag you in them so you can see

@shopaholic: sweeeeet. I'll back-stalk you on IG. I do anyway!

I bought a replacement band at Banana Republic for like $16 and it worked great...except now the prongs are changing color, boo. I thought about trying to exchange it, but I feel like that's probably normal for a cheapo ring. I would have liked to buy a slightly nicer one but choosing a size seemed like a gamble.

Nope I just didn't wear any rings! It felt weird the first day but I got over it.

I had a $10 stand in ring for when we went on honeymoon. But I didnt wear it when my fingers got swollen

@mrs. wagon: Wow, that's an amazing stand-in ring!! Emerald cuts are my faaaaave (mine e-ring is emerald cut!).
I think I may need one soon. My wedding band was tight to begin with, don't think I can wear it for much longer (even though I'm only 7 weeks, haha)

38 weeks and my set still fits - i was expecting to have to buy one though!

My hands shrunk dramatically along with the rest of me, so I needed a smaller stand in. I wore a beautiful platinum and diamond family ring that was actually far fancier than my ruby and gold set. I was slightly sad to give it up, I'll tell you. Then I wore my normal set until right around the end, and then just had it off for a few weeks.

I stopped wearing my rings in my 2nd tri. I feel naked but I didnt want to spend money on something that would just be temp. So I went/ am going w/o.

i did. my e-ring went first, then my band so i ordered a matching eternity band from Overstock.com --- it looked really real, just like my real ring (except this faker went all the way around and my real band only has diamonds half way).... it was only like $20 or $30.

@mrs. wagon: love that!
I did, my fingers were so swollen! It got some great use, too, because my best friend had the same problem at the end of her pregnancy, gave birth 10 months after I did, and I gave her my stand-in set to use.

With DD, I was pregnant over the winter so my rings fit; took them off at the hospital before being inducted. With DS, I was pregnant over the summer, e-ring went right after Memorial Day and w-ring went right after July 4; I went ringless. DH didn't like the idea of a stand-in set.
