DH and I want to take a staycation next week since a vacation just isn't going to happen this year.
LO will be 4 weeks old. Any ideas for fun activities that we can do with a newborn in tow?
We are already thinking of going to the aquarium but need more ideas.

@rahlyrah: Dinner/lunches out if LO is a good sleeper in the car seat! Do any restaurants near you have private rooms? That way you can relax even if LO wakes up, and you can take your time.
Picnic at the park? Might lead to some cute photo ops! 
Can you pick some movies, or a tv series to watch together in one week?
Schedule some "me" time for both of you? You get to go have a pedicure one day while he watches the baby, he gets to go have lunch with the boys another day?
Does your LO like to be worn/carried? If so you could try a movie (go on a weekday afternoon when it is less crowded), walk around a zoo, park, etc.
Wish I had more exciting ideas

@cmomma17: I like your ideas! At this point, any time we leave the house is exciting! I love the zoo and picnic idea (if it isn't too hot). You also made me realize that there is a drive-in movie theatre near us. Thanks!

@rahlyrah: Drive-in movie theater is an awesome idea!! There's one near me I've never been to! I saw pics on facebook of a friend who did this with her newborn and I was so jealous. Their baby mostly napped on a blanket the whole time and it seemed so fun!

I was going to suggest the aquarium. You could also drive into DC and visit some Smithsonians. Or drive over to Annapolis. LO's first visit to Annapolis was at 2-3 weeks old. We walked around downtown and ate all day. No pressure for us, and she loved being strolled around.

Drive in movie theater forever! Get some delicious take out, go hit up a fun movie. That way you won't bother anyone with a feeding or crying baby, and maybe they'll even sleep in the car! I would have done drive in movies like crazy had there been one here.

If your kid is a pretty good sleeper in the stroller or baby-wearing device, I kind of feel like you can do anything! I wouldn't do a regular movie theater, but restaurants, museums, etc. all fair game. You could check out the Washington Post's going out guide for a list of events going on- there's jazz in the sculpture gardens on Friday nights, there's a big Bastille Day block party coming up, etc. I also like the idea of Annapolis- it's a cute town to just walk around.
(You're also making me think about what I want to do with LO this weekend- maybe we'll hit up the zoo or the aquarium too!)
