For those of you that get Short Term Disability (STD) and FMLA through work, do those two run concurrently or are they supplementary? As in for FMLA, you're given 12 weeks, and STD is 6 weeks for vaginal delivery so does the 6 weeks STD count against your 12 weeks of FMLA? Or do you get the 6 weeks of STD AND 12 weeks of FMLA, so 18 weeks of time off?

Also, do you HAVE to use all your time off/sick days during your FMLA or can you take unpaid FMLA and save your time off for future use? I'd hate to burn through all my PTO time and not have any for "emergencies" later on in the year.
