We're planning to stock up on diapers (disposable) and wipes pre-birth, to cushion the blow of constant store trips and the financials thereof. I have a pretty good idea of how many to get. If you did this, when did you start buying? Did you wait until after your shower to see if you got any diapers/wipes? I'll be 32 weeks at my shower.

Its pretty easy to exchange diapers if you need to. Plus I didn't really get a lot of diapers at my shower.
If you see GREAT sales I would stock up now. One thing you can also do is at least start tracking/following prices so you know a good deal when you see one.

I didn't get any diapers at my shower, but we started stocking up pretty much as soon as I got pregnant. Whenever we saw a good sale, we'd pick up a case. So far at 6 months I've only bought 3 cases since she was born (mostly because she was smaller than we expected and didn't grow into the bigger sizes fast enough.

I know this isn't what you asked, but i think it's a great idea! A friend of mine had a prepaid target & each time she went to target while pregnant, she added $5 to it & it was her 'diaper $$' once the baby came so she didn't have to stress about the cost of diaps as much.

DH's parents said they would start picking up a pack of diapers every time they go to the store. We also pick them up (in various sizes). With two bottoms to diaper, I don't worry too much about having too many, but if we end up with extra, I'll try to return them or give them away.

i'm not sure what the game is, but i do know that my mom, mil, and best friend are stocking up on diapers for a game for my shower, so i'll probably be get getting lots. i was still interested in beginning my own stockpile, but i was told by numerous people not to do it. they told me that my baby may not be able to use a particular type (due to sensitivity, fit, etc.), and then i'm in a bind when i have 20 packs of unusable diapers.

I don't think it's a bad idea as long as they can be exchanged if you need a different size, brand, etc. I don't know about other stores, but we use Target and they are excellent about exchanges.

Stocking up is a good idea
I didn't receive that many diapers as gifts... maybe like 2 boxes of size 1s? You can just keep receipts and exchange/return if you get too many. I only bought one box of NBs before L arrived, and I kinda wish I would have stocked up when there were sales because I ended up having to buy diapers full price because I ran out.I would suggest keeping an eye on Babies R Us sales. Recently they had a buy 2 boxes of Pampers, get a $20 gift card deal so I stocked up

One of my showers was a diaper/wipe shower. SOOO helpful because the last thing I wanted to worry about was getting diapers and wipes. We got 3-4 packages of NB diapers, and used all and only had to buy 1 package. LO will be 6 weeks on Saturday and our stash of size 1s is still going strong. I think we have gone through 3-4 packages so far. We went through 3 boxes of wipes in 4 weeks and I just ordered a box off amazon that should last us a while.

Waiting until after the showers to stock up. I'll be 34 and 35 weeks at my showers (which are this week and next week eep!)

I bought diapers when I saw that they were on sale. I ended up with about 70 NBs, 600 size 1s, 400 size 2s before baby was born!
I didn't dare stock up too much on NBs but we ended up needing about 100 more than I had originally purchased before birth. It really just depends on your baby's shape I guess!
