Soooo hurricanes are named after crazy ex girlfriends... And snow storms are named after animated fish? I think I'm missing something here....? 
All of my east coast friends stay warm and safe!! If it makes you feel any better we get a few of those types of storms here every winter and nothing ever closes

@Mrs. Pen: I just didn't see them as being "ex" names. I mean hurricanes are named after guys too, right? (Hugo, Andrew) I think it's just easier to remember than tropical storm B.

@Mrs. Jacks: well I suppose any name would be an ex name there was a song I heard recently I think it was by Hunter Hayes about a storm named after a girl... Oh yeah it was "storm warning"

I hate that these storms all have such wussy names. I like the idea of changing them to "Hurricane MegaStorm 2012" vs. "Hurricane Sandy" lol!

I think they should name storms after Decepticons.
Hurricane Devastator. Hurricane Galvatron. Tropical Storm Starscream. Trop Storm Lazerbeak. Etcetera.

@Mrs. Pen: After a massive storm they retire the name (see the link I provided above). So they'll never use Katrina, Andrew, Hugo or any of the other huge storm names again.

The summer dh and I got married, there were 2 named storms that shared both of our names! (well, it was technically Katia for me, but still...I took it! lol)

@Mrs. Pen: What @Mrs. Jacks said. Since my name is so uncommon I always thought it'd be neat for it to be used BUT I wouldn't want it used over & over again. Just an odd thought I've always had.

I've been Upstate for about 10 years now and I can only recall twice where the city was shut down. Once was because the city was without power for DAYS. We hardly ever get snow days.
