*sigh* I've finally decided to pull my head out of the sand and try to reduce the amount of plastic in our home, especially since we run most things through the dishwasher.
Most of our plastic is in the form of Gladware. Do you have a set of glass food storage containers you love? Amazon is failing me - most people will rave about something, and then someone else will say, "the glass chipped off into my finger! Danger!!" and then I have decision paralysis. Help!

I got a set of Pyrex with the flat basic plastic lids from Kohls on a black friday deal. I think I paid maybe $25 for this?

To add to the set, I just got another set of Pyrex from Costco (on sale for $20) with the snap on lids. DH said he prefers these kind.

We have Pyrex ones, and a Japanese brand that has snap on lids. I don't mind the plastic lids since they don't touch the food when i microwave the container.

We recently got some of the Pyrex ones. I LOVE them! I use the smaller ones for M's soups and breakfast cereals.

I got these for our wedding 2 years ago and they're still in great shape.
The smallest ones sometimes get a little stuck in the next larger size when we store them, but it's never caused chipping. And I've used them in both the freezer and the microwave.
And they're currently 25% off

Oh, I forgot to add, I really like the locking lids because I use them a lot for leftovers I bring to work. I've never had a leak.

We use the pyrex with plastic lids and wash the lids by hand! I also never use the lids in the microwave. I'd rather cover with a wet paper towel.
I always laugh at the reviews of pyrex when they put a hot dish from their oven into a stainless steel sink and are absolutely shocked when it shatters. Of course it shattered! The extreme change in temperature from a hot oven to a cold steel sink is going to shatter glass!
I also have corningware with the glass lids as well, but they don't stack well with the glass lids in the fridge.

We got a set of Rubbermaid ones at Target. I really like them. They have the interlocking lids, so I'm not constantly losing lids.

I also have a similar set from... Costco? I don't remember, but just about the same style. I leave the lid off when/if I microwave.
I was thinking about going to the thrift store to see if they had any, because glass storage is $$$!!

@2PeasinaPod: Erm...I totally had a Pyrex shatter once! I'd assumed something "oven-safe" wouldn't explode into a thousand pieces just by removing from the oven and putting on top of the stove (where else are you supposed to put it?!). I use ceramic now.

@hummusgirl: Is your stovetop stainless steel though? I wouldn't expect that to happen either if you're taking it out of the oven and putting it onto your stovetop. The sink is another story

@2PeasinaPod: No, not stainless! It was alarming and I read a bunch of stuff afterward about how they started using a different kind of glass for Pyrex than they used to, and that's what created the issue. Regardless, I never plan to test it again!

I love my Glasslock containers but they're kind of pricey. I also have some Pyrex that has been going strong for years now, and I really like it...just not as much as the Glasslock.
