This is called Infant Swim Rescue swimming and there are many certified instructors (of which I am not). I think the techniques are fantastic for babies and we started implementing them with my son last summer.

@brownie: that's so great!!!! I taught swim lessons when I was younger, but they didn't have anything like this!

I think if you live somewhere like FL its super important to start swimming lessons early.
Personally I find some of the ISR techniques a little harsh for my liking, so I'm going to start a modified version at 6mo. (Age which you can use public pool). We currently practise floating in the bathtub at 3mo -
OMG I've never heard of this or seen anything like that before! pretty crazy! Not sure how I would teach that but definitely something to look into.

This made DH all freaked out and my heart was stopped pretty much the whole time. But this is incredible!

This was so hard to watch...but we have a pool so I stuck it out. Ugh, my heart is still racing!

How is this even possible...my LO has just learned how to roll over on the ground at almost 6 months!

My heart hurt and raced watching that but how incredible. I want my kids to be water safe and will probably start swim lessons with DD by 6 months. Will look into this as well!

A friend literally just posted this on FB and I has never seen or heard of ISR! Soooo hard to watch, but really amazing.
