So I'm 7wd, and my breasts are already getting huge. Thankfully I used to be a little bigger, and have bras from then that work, but at this rate I'll need to get a new one soon. I know everyone is different, but what was breast growth like for you during pregnancy and afterwards (I plan to EBF if at all possible)? Is this likely to continue, or more come in spurts? And they say to go ahead and buy a nursing bra at some point (not this early, obviously), but how can you possibly know what size you'll wind up? I don't want to buy one and it wind up being way too small or something. How wide of a range of size can they fit? This is confusing!

My breasts grew at once so I bought new bras and was good for the rest of my pregnancy.
I didn't buy nursing bras until R arrived and I'm glad I didn't. I was (and still am) much bigger than I ever thought I'd be. I ordered a bunch from Amazon and sent the ones back that didn't work. I did buy nursing sleep bras before R was born so I had something for the hospital.

I would buy regular bras now (with extra space). Like buy them now on the tightest setting, knowing that by your third tri you will need to loosen them. My cups got bigger in the first tri, but it was just the waist/ribs that got bigger later on.
Then once I had my milk come in, I probably went up another cup or so. I would wait to buy a nursing bra until your third tri.

this is how my pregnancy went too. got bigger right away, was reasonably steady for a while. I had to stop wearing underwires at some point (and bought wireless nursing bras then) because my rib cage was so uncomfortable and tender. that was in 3rd tri. I was glad to have a couple of starter nursing bras from that but I did buy more afterward that were a better fit for my ginormous girls when nursing (eventually went to nursing underwires which I loved).

I don't know if my case will help you or not. I started out very busty and my bra size didn't change luckily until my ribs started expanding in the end of the second tri. I waited until maybe 28 weeks to buy a new bra and let them settle and I haven't had to buy a new bra since. I imagine they will get much bigger once my milk comes in after birth but by then, I'll buy nursing bras.

@MrsKoala: that's good to know! I started out pretty big, and at almost 28 weeks am still wearing my pre-pregnancy bras. My breasts are def a little bigger, but not so much yet that I've needed new bras. I've been wondering when they'll grow!

My boobs got big so fast! By 10 weeks I had to go buy new bras. I got them just a little loose so I could grow into them yet. At 25 weeks they fit perfectly (so I've grown just a little bit in 15 weeks). Hoping to hold steady still until almost the end!

I went up 1 cup size and 1 band size while pregnant. Went up another cup size, but same band size once my milk came in.

My boobs mostly grew in the 1st tri but I was able to wear my old, stretched-out bras (the ones I should have gotten rid of before but never got around to doing) throughout my pregnancy. I carried on the lower side so my ribcage didn't really expand that much. Toward the end, I bought a super stretchy nursing bra from A Pea In the Pod which can stretch up to 6 sized or something crazy like that, and it's been pretty good. Expensive, though, so I only bought one -- but if I was planning to wear it through my pregnancy, too, I might have sprung for another. I don't actually know my size now, but plan to get fitted before I go back to work.

Mine grew during the 1st trimester and now seemed to have hit another spurt during the 2nd. I also found that I just generally got wider too.
This is what I have done with both of my pregnancies:
- I got the bra extenders so I was able to use my usual bras a little longer
- I bought nursing bras to get me through also - I got about 2 sizes bigger than I normally wear
- I also used sports bras because they were the most comfortable as I progressed. I got some that were just kind of a shelf bra and not too tight. -
Mine grew really early-- I bought two cheap new bras by 10 weeks because my regular ones felt so tight around my rib cage. I feel like my chest just kept growing throughout my pregnancy, though, so eventually I just started wearing stretchy sports bra type bras, which honestly didn't always look super hot. Bra extenders were helpful as well.
After delivery my boobs got even huge-er, but settled down after a couple of weeks. My size has settled down to smaller than during pregnancy (especially band) but bigger than pre-preg (especially cups). I didn't realize how stretchy and adjustable nursing bras are, if I had, I may have bought one in the 3rd trimester. The Bravado body silk one would work well and is pretty adjustable.

Mine are ridiculous. Already big to begin with and just exploded during 1st trimester. I had to buy some sports bras because my regular ones don't fit (even my nice sports bras for running are too tight now). Just waiting to get bigger (ugh) to buy nursing bras. A friend told me the size you'll be during nursing is the size you are during your 8th month. Like I said, these things are ridiculous -- not sure how they can get any bigger...

Mine grew in my frist trimester of my first pregnancy and stayed the same size through nursing... they just got firmer when my milk came in, but then were fine. They shrunk back down a little when she weaned, but I got KU 2 months later and then we were back to nursing size again.

interesting thread! i guess it varies from person to person if you have another growth spurt once the milk comes in?
i had tiny boobs pre-pregnancy, pretty much non-existent AA cups. around week 8-9, they doubled / tripled in size and grew really fast that i even got tiny stretch marks as a result! i'm now 29 weeks and they have remained the same size throughout - probably a full B cup which is "huge" for me. i'm also wondering if they'll get bigger once the milk comes in, or if it'll stay the same size (but more firm) like a PP has said.
ETA i haven't worn a regular bra since week 10 or so. i just wear the bras i use when working out - stretchy with no underwires. i'm thinking about investing in a nursing bra or two - the lamaze cotton spandex sleep bra for nursing & maternity (heard great things about it and they look so comfy).
