I got two when I was 18 and am pretty meh about them now. I don't love them or hate them, they are just there. My husband has 2 as well and he loves them. He wants to get a full sleeve on his left arm. He plans to start on that soon.

I have one and I don't regret it all. Just make sure that if you get one, it is something that means something to you and in a place that you are comfortable having it. Mine is small and on my back so I often forget that I even have it. It's become such a familiar feature on my body.

ETA: I got mine ten years ago when I was 20.

I have one that i got when i was 23. its about the size of my fist and is in the middle of my back right under my bra line. I honestly forget that its there most days. the only time you see it is when i'm nekkid or in a bikini. It doesnt bother me and i dont regret it. I probably wouldnt get another one though.

i don't have one, but have always one. i just never thought of anything that i'd want FOREVER. my parents would be like OMG you got one, but they would never have told me not to either.

I have 5 and I only regret one. I love what it means I just wish it where designed by someone other than me!

i have four smallish ones and i still like them all! i love two of them and the other two i kinda forget i have, but i like them all the same. i got mine spread out from 19-22

ETA: my mom got her first and only tattoo a couple years ago at 55!

I have four; I got one a year from ages 19-22. I only regret one, and it's the one I got on impulse. The other three are much larger, but are in easy to cover spots (back, calf) and I still adore them. I actually plan on getting a 5th as a reward for losing my baby weight!

From what I've experienced and seen with others, those who did not think through their designs, or got them in very visible areas are less happy with them. Not that very visible tattoos are bad! Just that I've seen them cause issues for people in their jobs, as annoying as that is!

I have 8, most pretty small though. There's only one that I'm not so stoked on, more because of the time of my life that it reminds me of than the actual tattoo. I got them all between the ages of 19-24 (I'm 28). I would have gotten more but I met DH when I was 25 and he doesn't like tattoos that much.

I have a small outline one of the back of my neck that I got right before my 30th birthday and I still love it. I had wanted to get it for years though and had really thought about it.
Very few people know that I have it as I usually wear my hair long but sometimes it can be a pain as my in laws hate tattoos!
But I love that it is an expression of me in a world where we can lose ourselves in other things and roles so easily.
I think that if you really want one, think carefully about it and if you really want it - do it!

I don't have one, but have always wanted one. I can't think of something that I want on my body for the rest of my life, though, so I've held off. If I ever thought of something I'd go and get one.

That said, I have/had 15 piercings. Most of them closed when I took them out during pregnancy & when I was required to for my c-section.

I got one when I was 18, small but I would probably remove it, but it doesn't bother me I just hate hte location (tramp stamp.)

My second is on my left foot when I was 22 and I love it still 6 years later.

I'm planning on one more for my kids on my right foot, I have the design picked out. I'm tempted to get it now but I figured I shoudl wait until I'm done having kids unless I get a whole new tattoo for the second child

I have three. 1 I got when I was 15, 1 when I was 18, and 1 when I was 21ish. Two of them are pretty small and in places that you wouldn't see...pretty much ever, the other is a larger sparrow on my rib cage that you'll only see if I'm in a bikini (which is rare, thank gawd).

I love them all and don't regret any of them!

I have one on my forearm, and don't regret it. I got it two years ago, when I was 23. My husband is covered in them and started when he was 18. The city we live in has a huge tattoo culture, 3rd most tattooed city in the nation. I will say, and he agrees, that the older you are, the harder the healing process is. It just hurts more. Getting one hurts a little bit, not much. But as you age, healing is harder. If I ever wanted another, I would probably hesitate because of that.

No tattoos for me and I'm so happy about it. Every tattoo I've ever considered has ended up being trendy then dated.

i do not regret ANY of them but im not sure i would get a tattoo if you are ttcing

i actually was about to get one in thailand when i found out i was pregnant.

I have five tattoos, one that I got when I was 18, then two at 23 and two at 26. I love them all and they mean so much to me. I will eventually get something special for my LO's as well.

I have four. Got them between 18-28 yrs old. Dont regret any of them. I want more even.
@CharityAnne: Thats super cute. I think you should do it. Epecisally if you have wanted one for so long. its not like its a rash or quiick decision. Clearly you have put lots of thought into getting one. I think you should! ; )
