I got it when I was pregnant with my three month old (2015) and toddler (2013) but not my preschooler (2012).

I got it just after having my oldest in 2012 (I delivered early, or I would have had it while pregnant) and while pregnant in 2014.

It was a recommendation when I was pregnant with my first in 2011. Got it during my pregnancy, but it was a very new recommendation then. Also got it during my pregnancy in 2014.

I got it with my oldest in 2012 and my second in 2014 and was told I should get it this pregnancy as well. I don't know how that will go because the ob's office said to get it from my PCP and when I saw my PCP last summer he said it was overkill to get it each pregnancy.

@DesertDreams88: I feel like I don't remember getting it when pregnant in 2012. But i did for my pregnancy in 2014.

I had it after delivery in 2011

I had it at the end of 2011 when I told my GP we were planning to TTC.

I got it in March 2011 before I left the hospital

I didn't need to get it while pregnant because I had it as part of a pre-relocation physical a year before.

@looch: the current CDC recommendation is every pregnancy no matter when your last TDAP shot was.

I got it during both my pregnancies (2012 & 2015). All my family guests got it in 2012, but not in 2015.

I delivered January 2013 and I got one during pregnancy.

I had my son in 2012 and got it the day after I delivered. They didn't do it during my pregnancy (just the flu shot).

@DesertDreams88: Adults who aren't pregnant need it every 10 years (for tetanus, anyway), so just get the pertussis one and they're good to go for 10 years.
But pregnant mamas need it every pregnancy because they need to pass the antibodies to the baby/fetus via the placenta. It's a different kind of antibody and doesn't form the same permanent/long term memory, so the shot for 2 or 4 years ago won't help the new baby.

I don't know how long the "every pregnancy" rule has been around but I know the 10 yr tetanus booster has been around for decades.

ETA I got pregnant 4 months after my 10yr booster, and had to get it again, less than a year later, during my 3rd trimester to protect my son. It has to be while pregnant or at delivery.

2013 and 2015

I have only heard about this on this forum. Of the handful of pregnant people I have known to have babies in the last 6 years, including me, none of us have had the shot mentioned or received it so neither did any of the people around us unless it was on the 10 year schedule and they were due. I'm in Canada. Although on another thread about this booster shot there were people in Canada who said they were told about it...so weird!

The only shot I have heard about getting a booster of before pregnancy is the MMR shot, but you can't get it while pregnant and not everyone needs to boost their immunity if it hasn't decreased over time.

Yeah I got mine with DS1 in 2014 and again this year for DS2 to pass the antibodies to the baby before their vaccines at 2 months. DH got a booster (my practice basically makes all dads get it), MIL has to have it for her work, but I don't think my mom or dad or FIL got boosters. I think they were just current.

Have never heard of it and certainly never had it during either pregnancy in 2008/2009 or this current one 2015/2016.

Perhaps it's not a thing in Canada?
